My question is simple. Has floyd ever faced anyone with foot speed as great as pacquiao? And no, Judah does not have fast feet, good hands yes but stationary most of the time. The reason why i ask this question is because all of pacquiao's most recent opponents have repeadtedly said two things.

'I couldnt see where the punches were coming from....I Could not defend myself' - Miguel Cotto

'He's just too fast' - David Diaz

This got me thinking especially with regards to cotto. Cotto has faced fast fighters before namely mosley and judah and he never commented how the speed bothered him in those fights. What is the reason for this? My opinion is that pacquiao uses his feet to change direction, position and balance so quickly that fighters simply dont have the time to react. This is because Most fighters, particulary technical master like mayweather are taught how to defend themselves in a conventional way and against conventional attackers.

In the pacquiao cotto fight for example this is extremely evident. Cotto could block the first 2-3 shots quite handidly, however the 3rd,4th and 6th shots landed flush and did the damage. This leads me to believe that mayweathers defence could potentially become overwhelmed in their fight. So, has mayweather faced anyone with really fast feet?

Don't forget, Oscar quit on his stool due to Pacquiao's speed. All this said, Mayweather has many advantages of his own, too.

Its mainly the feet. Fast hands is one thing, at least you know where the punches are coming from and their trajectory but when the feet move the punches can come from anywhere.

We will find out March 13. I would never underestimate mayweathers defence tho.

IMO, Speed will be a non factor as both fighters will prob be = in that area.
Rhythm & gameplan, Who makes who fight their "Fight".

Advantage Mayweather. (Based on his style)
But a K.O. by Manny would be sweet!

This is very significant. Mayweather's used to being able to pick his spots against guys who move quite predictably and beat his opponent to the punch. Pacquiao can jump in very quickly and throw shots from very strange positions (see the first Cotto KD) and still connect with deadly power. I think Mayweather will struggle badly to keep Pacquiao off him.

No doubt his defence his great but will he be able to put the hurt on pacquiao, because if he doesnt he will be in for a world of hurt.

:deal Especially within the first 3 rounds when mayweather likes to adjust to opponents. Mayweather needs to come into the ring with his gameplan set and then adjust, not come into the ring and then figure out pacquiao.

mayweather has a very superb defense but his style has not been tested with boxers who moves laterally and then punches. i was impressed with pac when i saw how he connects a right uppercut to cotto while moving backwards and laterally at the same time and that drops cotto. :good

One second manny was on the ropes then bam cotto is fighting off the ropes in the opposite direction and is on the floor. He actually spun cotto around.

Dude, Pacquiao was throwing 13 punch combos at Cotto at points in the fight. His footwork kept him moving and in position. Cue that video of Pac punching to music. I wanna see how he defends a storm of power punches.

Floyds defence will be tested at the very least. Can he pass the test? The first three rounds will be hugely important.

yep ur right! if u notice, pac usually moves to his right when he attacks that is why roach needs time on how to exploit floyds shoulder defense coz pac usually moves to his right and in which, pac would only hit floyds shoulder. pac needs to move to his left laterally when attacking coz thats where floyds weak point and a straight left would be the key to the fight. hooks are insignificant since floyds defense are on his sides.

Not really. There's no one that can replicate his way of moving while throwing crazily fast combinations. There are plenty of fast guys out there, but ones that lunge in and out with effective combinations in the way Pacman does? Nah. Mayweather will have to do his usual thing and adapt when in the ring.
