    What's up guys,
I have one of those composite leather Everlast 100 lb bags, and from the center of the bag on down, there are spots on the bag that are as hard as a brick wall. I have found that others have had the same problem (on another message board), and some have removed the sandbags completely and stuffed it with old clothing.

Another person has removed the sandbags, wrapped them in a large towel, used duct tape to secure the towel, placed it in the center of the bag, surrounding the wrapped sandbags with the rest of the filling. This is something that I am considering, and just wanted to know if anyone else has tried something similar? Any advice would be appreciated.

Our trainer told us the same thing...just punch it until it softens...I don't think he was kidding though.

Maybe there's too much sand in one spot??? Idk, my only suggestion would be to take out the sand and distribute it evenly throughout the bag.

dood. Go to the utility mart and purchase industrial grade foam sheets (1 inch+ thickness). Those should be about a mattress size, empty out your bag and insert the mattress rolled up along the inner edge of the bag wall. Trim it however you have to so that it fits snugly, to the top, and edge to edge on the connecting side. Pour the stuffing back into the bag at maximum compression, be absolutely sure that the size and material of the stuffing is of uniform distribution (ie get rid of the sand bags and replace with denim shreddings).
Now you would have maintained the original weight with a higher density, but the outer core has a uniform hardness due to the foam roll being squished in between the internal and external pressure acting against each other. Its complicated to explain how that works, but not in my life have I made a more superior heavy bag. I'd draw a schematic but I'm out of time.

One thing I used to do for soft spots in my heavybag was turning it upside down when I wasnt used to it and everything would shift back around properly, it also made the bottom not so hard so it may work.

This happens with most bags that don't get a lot of use. For example a gym bag gets a LOT of use. Sand gets no chance to settle so it is always ready for a shellacking.

For those of us who train every couple days, or like me, train at both the boxing gym and at home, the heavy bag will have more of a chance to let dirt settle. The best way to fix this is to pull the bag once a month/ every other month. I take it down and turn it upside down and give a beating. don't use a bat or anything like that. put on a glove or ideally a bag glove and work those hard spots out. I tend to just take the bag inside to a carpeted area and lay it down and beat the hard spots out by punching it/ elbows/ knees. Again, don't wail on it, you don't want to hurt yourself doing routine bag maintnance. Just work those spots out, roll the bag around, turn it upside down etc. All the dirt will settle and you can rehang it and get back to work.

This is a little bit of a work out itself if you really get into it, but it shouldn't take more than 15 minutes and your bag will last longer. Keep in mind, the longer the bag has been sitting/ not used or not "resettled" as I like to call this process, the longer it will take to resettle the bag when you do get around to it. Once a month will result in really quick 10 minute sessions that will leave the bag feeling really good all over.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks Johnboy, this gave me a great idea to try wrapping my wifey's yoga mat around the bag. After trying to out though, it still feels like I'm hitting a yoga mat covering a brick wall.

Hit it with some other object, for example a baseball bat till if softens.
