arreola is younger he would probably win but i do see james toney outboxing Him thats a possibility too
They bring different angles, Arreola likes to be inside and throw down.. Toney is a masterful inside boxer. Yes, Toney has had his fair share of bad fights, including his first fight with Rahman where Rahman used his elbow and kidney shot over and over to keep Toney from countering him. In the rematch Toney looked sloppy but caught Rahman with a peach of a punch and almost took him out, Rahman quit.. remember? Arreola is just not that good, he'd go inside and throw down with Toney, and Toney having the upper hand in muscle memory after having done it in the gym for almost 20 years, will easily hand him his ass on a plate and light up a cigarr. Styles makes fights, and I actually see Toney giving him a lesson.
Do you seriously think Goosen is "protecting" Arreola from shot to **** Toney, who a complete bum was able to wobble in his last fight? The only think Goosen's trying to protect is Arreola's reputation as an exciting fighter, because Toney has a way of making his fights boring as hell. Toney shouldn't be fighting at all anymore. And he sure as hell shouldn't be fighting someone who's aggressive and punches hard at this point. It's easier to understand Mushmouth from Fat Albert than James Toney. The man is so punch drunk that he can't even do TV interviews anymore. He was caught roiding in 2 of his recent fights. He hasn't convincingly won a fight (other than his last fight, where he was hurt by a guy with a 10-6 record) in years. If anything, Goosen needs to protect Toney from himself.
This fight would make perfect sense for both fighters. Toney is far removed from his prime and could get beat by a no name fighter his next time out. With Arreola he could atleast grab one last nice payday. For Arreola he would be able to put a hall of famer on his resume and would get some rounds in with one of the craftiest heavyweights the division has ever seen. Fight makes sense for both guys but Arreola is too young and aggressive for a 40 year old Toney. Arreola by decision.
Arreola needs to beat a name fighter. When you look at Arreola's record, there is only garbage. Against the only big name fighter in Vitali, he lost every round. Despite being removed from his prime, Toney still has a big name and has only lost to Peter in his 6 year campaign at heavyweight. Although, I have to admit the Goossen needs to protect Toney from himself theory is not completely out of the question. I know where you are coming from in that respect.
Yeah because Arreola has knocked out so many world class fighters and Toney is a glass jawed joke with no defense.
I actually think that after about 3 rounds, and arreola starts to turn it up that he will overwelm toney and start winning rounds off him.... i think Arreola wins a decision against Toney. I wouldnt mind seeing it though.
The thing is, why would anyone fight james toney at this point in time unless it was for big money? he doesnt really bring anything to the table, will probably make you look bad, and the list goes on. Maybe Goosen is having a hard time getting james a meaningful fight, because nobody sees the point in fighting him.... he doesnt really bring anything to the table at this point.
Minto brings not needing to get paid a lot of money to fight. If they offered Toney the same $75 grand they gave Minto, Toney would laugh at them.
