If the Pierre had scored the fight 115-113 Williams, would you be complaining at all?

Many people I talked to in Atlantic City said that they scored the fight for Martinez, but would have no problem accepting Williams as the winner 115-113, 115-113, 114-114.

I really think that the judge who scored the fight ridiculously kinda takes away from Williams as much as it does Martinez. I think fewer people would be complaining had he scored it very narrowly for Williams.

Anyway, I would love to see a rematch, and fully expect paul to be able to adjust. I think he has a lot more to improve on in the rematch than martinez, who I thought fought about as well stylistically as he possbly could.

    Props to both.

I don't think people would be as outrated, but I'm pretty sure people still would believe martinez won the fight.

It was a close fight and i have no problem with PW winning the fight. He did land more punches but martinez landed the more power punch. One thing showed me in this fight is PW might be in trouble when pavlik land those bombs. We know pavlik is a lot more powerful than martinez. So watch out PW cuz you might be in for a long night.

hopefully pavlik-PW can be in the pac-mayweather undercard.

I had it 115-113 for Martinez. A draw would have been fair as well if you want to be generous. But if the last guy saw 115-113 for williams it just proves how even the fight was.

What do you think was this guys reasoning for his score?

I doubt he was bribed because he would have at least tried to make the scorecard look reasonable, so he obviously did watch each of those rounds and seen Williams winning them. Either incredible pre-fight bias or his brain went into melt down after the 2nd round.

As far as I've read, he has never been caught up in any scoring controversies in the past. It really is a strange one.

No I wouldn't have complained. I scored it to Martinez by 1 point but still expected Williams to get the nod from the judges anyway.

The 119-110 was ridiculous though and it does take something away from Williams too, it turned a good fight into a bit of a farce when it looked like Williams would have got the decision, from that judge at least, no matter what.

He was maybe just going on punches thrown rather than punches landed but I still think he could have been bribed, or decided beforehand to give it to Williams for whatever reason, and was just giving Williams every round he thought there was any argument for.

Unfortunately that one outrageous score is slightly overshadowing what was an excellent fight between two top fighters. I thought Williams won by a point but have no problem with a Martinez win either. I'd like to see a rematch but not at the expense of a Pavlik-Williams fight.

I didn't dig very far, but I couldn't find anything especially fishy, either. I'm going to try and watch some bouts that he's scored more than 3 rounds apart - maybe he absolutely adores pressure fighters. Absolutely bizarre and taints any future viewings of a fantastic fight, even more than the commentary.

It also meant that if the other 2 judges score Rd 1 correctly i.e. 10-9 Martinez, the best SM could have got would be a draw (115-113 SM, 114-114 & 119-110 PW) So in that respect Martinez did get robbed.
