If the Pierre had scored the fight 115-113 Williams, would you be complaining at all?

I thought they did score it correctly, the 114-114 and 115-113 scorecards are what you'd get if every round was a 10-9 for someone.

Benoist was the only one that seemed to score a round even. I haven't seen the actual round by round scorecards though so I might be missing something.

According to my calculations Benoist only gave one clear round to SM and one even which is a complete joke.

The two normal judges scored Rd 1 a 10-9 in favour of Williams, it's the proper score but to the wrong guy as Martinez did the most damage in that round, his KD was a hurtful one whereas Paul knocked Martinez down but never really hurt him.

Both KDs cancelling each other out, the round should have gone to Martinez IMO.

Benoist scored that round 10-10 even.

What adjustments can PW make?? Improve his defense overnight??

You seem to be forgetting that Martinez was a replacement for this fight. He wasnt even scheduled to fight PW to begin with. PW had more time to train for the fight while MArtinez got the call and took the fight on short notice.

Not as short as some other figfhts but he didnt really have a full training camp.

I actually see Martinez doing much better in a scheduled rematch.
If Martinez had worked on his stamina to keep up wth Pw this probably would have been a stoppage for him.

For all of HBOs talk, Carter and Lederman (rightly) saw Martinez take the championship rounds. Plus, Pierre made a scoring error... and then fell asleep with his finger pressed on the button.

Ah right, I never knew that, yeah that is pretty bad and it should have been a draw in that case, though a few rounds could have still gone either way later on.

I guess they maybe thought that because Martinez knocked Williams down at the end of the round then Williams won most of it, which is bull**** really because they'd still have given it 10-8 Martinez if Williams had dominated it (which he didn't,) and got KD'd at the end.

I'm sure a lot of the time the judges can't actually see a lot of what's happening, or decide with a minute still to go in a round who they'll give it to.

No . . . the decission could have been more credicle with 2 judges having same 115-113 scores and one judge at 114-114. That's a true reflection of how close the fight was.

. . . but Willaims clearly? No again. I scored that 7 to 5 that for Williams . . . but some rounds are too close to call and can go eitherway so we can't have a clear result in that kind of fight.

I had PW winning and am a little surprised at how some have taken this.

119 is a joke...but I definitely understand not being that impressed with that style.

I think that many are assuming that the judges scored the first round off of replays...I doubt this was the case. The slowed down replay showed that Martinez's KD was better, but before HBO showed that, most people seemed to think that it was a pretty even round, and everyone could see that PW was winning before that last minute KD.

Do I believe it should have been a 10-9 round for either fighter? Not necessarily, but I'm not going to point to a replay to try and determine what the judges perceived.

Cards like that show that a boxer never had a chance to begin with. Even worse this guy was just robbed recently.

I didn't vote cuz none of the options describe my opinion. I strictly had it 114-114. I think a 115-113 victory for Sergio doesn't do PW's tenacity, stamina, chin, and aggression justice and a 115-113 for PW doesn't recognize the fact that the cleaner, harder punches, higher connect %, and superior skill and ring generalship all belonged to Sergio that night.

What weight for the rematch? I'd say LMW but would Sergio risk his belts in the US? He hasn't been treated kindly by judges here. He should have beaten Cintron by KO, DQ AND points and only got a draw.

I didn't vote because the choices were incomplete.

I would have voted for NO because it was a close fight and could have gone either way

You certainly should have had that for a choice
