RJJ had a great career. But was it big enough to justify ATG status? If he is an ATG, where does he rank among the greats? Please vote
Could someone mention his accomplishments, and why they justify ATG status. I know RJJ is a HOFer, but ATG status requires a super great resume.
What more do you want from an ATG. He has beaten future ATG's in Toney & Hopkins, won belts at 160, 168, 175 & heavy. Hardly lost a round let alone a fight in his prime. No one disputes Ali's greatest even with losses to Leon Spinks & Trevor Berbick. The man was one of th emost talented fighters to lace the gloves.
how many of these stupid ass useless ****ing threads are we gonna have here dialy! for ****s sakes, this forum has gone to complete utter sh!t with all these ****** noobs and their ******ed trolling threads. if you dont know why he is an ATG, then you should not watch boxing anymore and just have a big coke, and a smile, and shut the **** up!
Some say that RJJ is a victim of circumstances, since there were not enough great fighters around his weight class to fight him, and hence only the big names Toney & Hopkins in his resume. RJJ winning 4 weight classes including the highly valued heavyweight class is impressive, but where should we rank RJJ in the Top 50 ATG list?
His resume DOES NOT stack up to the other legit ATG's he is compared to. He is a Glass Jawed fraud that handpicked all his opponents and took the path of least resistance. In the era of belts galore he still NEVER beat a unified, Lineal, or undisputed champion. That speaks volumes.
That's because he became the unified, lineal and undisputed champion in the weight class he made his own. You can't fight yourself.
Hes an ATG definitely in my eyes - but i don't think hes doing his credibility and status any good by keeping on fighting, hes over the hill man and should quit!! Hes making himself look like an idiot, and it will sway people off his reputation and greatness of his prime
Def. an ATG. I wish he'd retire already though. There is something in leaving, on your own terms, while at the top of your game. Too many of these elite fighters don't realize that until it's too late. Holyfield is an extreme example but there are many others.
Yes . . . the poor fight results now that he is already past his prime should not be affecting his ATG claim anymore. What he had accomplished in the past should be the one considered.
think about this. everyone knows that pac is a multiple weight champ and everyone knows that he started out at 106lbs and now has a belt at 147. pac turned pro at that weight at age 16. rjj was 17 years old when he won the golden gloves at 139lbs. he then went on to win the hw title. who else has ever done that? and in between he managed to be about as close to untoucable during his prime as anyone i have ever seen.
