I see this one being a brutal stoppage win for Cotto. Pw would not utilize his reach and stick his head in there for Cotto to knock off. I think Cotto hits harder than Martinez and would exchange more. Cotto has taken alot better shots than what PW has to offer.
Cotto is my favorite current boxer but I'm pretty sure Williams walks him down and punishes him. Williams doesn't have the chin that Margarito has but neither does Cotto have the power he used to. It's a pity.
I could see that too, but I really think PW is more vulnerable than I once thought. Cotto could do some damage at to PW at 150
This is a good fight to be made right now, both fighters are at a stage in their career where it makes sense, Cotto coming off a top tier loss, he would be glad to make some noise with another big name in the WW division. PW is saying no one in the WW will fight him, let him try his hand at cotto, a guy who is no long at the top of the WW division, but is a legitimate threat and contender for any title.
No doubt, but he would have to make it thru the first 8 rounds first. Cotto put a hurtin' on Pac, let's not forget the man can punch and PW is there just waiting to be hit
IMO, it all depends on what weight they agree to fight each other. At 147 max, Cotto will win. I think PW will be weight drained @ that wt. At 156 and up, PW takes it. This is where PW is at his best.
I guess it depends on what happened in the Williams-Martinez fight. I missed it. Sounds to me like his chin is suspect now. I think the fight is a pick-em and could go either way but I'm seriously concerned with Cotto's power now after his past three fights (minus Jennings). I had (a lot of) money on Cotto to beat Pac and pre-Margo was convinced Cotto had the tools to handle PBF. Now though I don't know, he handled Pac pretty well for 3-4 rounds and was only really getting hit with the 4th, 5th or 6th shots of his combos, blocking the first hits pretty successfully. But Williams has heart and and I don't think Cotto can do the requisite damage to stop him walking him down. He won't lay back and make it easy like Clottey did. It's a close one, for sure.
Williams would beat the **** outta cotto he's easy to hit and busts up to easily. He would have cotto runing all over the ring.
yeah i agree...cotto would have a way better shot at 147...but at 156 there be noway cotto could last that long....and beside pw takes a pretty good shot...like to see if he could take more to the body tho..
