Watch Williams/Martinez with the sound off and you will see a clear victory for Paul

Indeed. Williams managed a few good lands himself, but the majority of the time he was missing and even much of what he did land didn't land all that effectively because Paul often slapped with his punches or Martinez took something off by rolling away from the punches.

All the while Sergio was cracking Williams with clean, sharp punches all throughout the fight because Paul's chin was exposed being high up in the air instead of tucked in between his gloves. Martinez deserved that decision. :deal

 

:yepThat was just priceless!!! Everytime I see that it just leaves me impressed, it's like he's thinking, "wow, who do we got on our payroll and how much is this costing me".... just rewatched it on HBOW a few minutes ago, and BTW, Martinez won again!!

 

The commentators were tripping all over themselves, in the rush to contradict themselves every thirty seconds. With Lampley and Kellermen being rabid fanboys, trying to build underdog narratives for both guys all year, things went exactly as I predicted.

I still can't get the "Paul Williams is built like a pit bull" comment out of my head.

your obviously a williams nuthugger whom is upset his hero paul williams got brought back down to life from the premature accolades he was recieving for his overrated victory over a past his prime highly inactive winky wright, listen theres nothing wrong with fighting to a draw agianst martinez, which is what the fight should have been scored, they are both excellent junior middle weights, but they are not all time pound for pound elites. like so many on this site were proclaiming williams, he is a great fighter but he shouldnt be included in pound for pound discussions because his strengths are primarily his size and if he continued to move uop in weight, he would lose his advantages and become mediocre

 

You might be right about Williams' p4p status.....and especially his height advantage. But I also think Lampley was slobbering over Martinez..... not that exctly ignored Williams.....

 

i agree. lampley was all on martinez. i watched it with the sound off and had williams winning too. i just think with all the hype surrounding williams people expected him to be dominant and that just wasnt gonna happen against martinez that night. williams won though.

I know, some people act here as if nobody has the capacity to see the fight, listen to what the commentators say and be aware if you agree or disagree with what it's being said.

 

I gave the first round even cause I felt Paul got hit with a more effective shot!! Until 7 seconds left in the first round PW was clearly winning the round 10-8 because he was more aggresive and had put SM down! So those who scored the first for Martinez were biased by the punch that put PW on his ass and totally forget that PW was winning the round with a knock down!
