Why is Vitali fighting this bum Johnson?

Whats the reasoning behind his choice of Johnson?

Johnson is a ranked Top 10 guy.

 

because he has fought bums his whole career, why change now?

 

i think its merely a stay busy fight.but if he really thinks is a legend making fight or his fans, then he and them are sadly mistaken. there are much tougher fights out their for hom: solis, boytsov, povetkin, hell even shannon briggs can bring a tougher fight than this feather fisted ninny. but its a stay busy fight, nothing more nothing less

 

the ranking is bull****, johnson is a c level fighter.
the top ten has to look like that:
1.wladimir
2.vitali
3/4 toss up between chambers and povetkin
5 haye
6 thompson
7 ruiz
8 valuev
9 arreola
10 boytsov

 

Who else is there?

He won't fight his brother (which I think is fair enough, I used to fight with my brother all the time as kids but wouldn't now if I didn't have to)

Eddie Chambers is fighting Wlad next.

Alex Povetkin has a mandatory shot at Wlad and seems to be trying to get some more fights in before cashing in.

Haye was supposed to fight him but pulled out, and it'll take time to put that fight togehter again. Plus he only fought last month.

Valuev fought last month and lost.

He's already murdered Arreola.

Chagaev just lost to Wlad.

 

Johnson is not a bum. But someone who wants to call him a bum is probably a bum. Whatever.

 

Is like Larry says, who else is he supposed to fight? everyone else is busy/waiting for wlad or haye

I'm not going to go calling Johnson a world beater but you have to look past his record, he's a much better fighter then even his unblemished record suggest. The truth of the matter is that he's not promoted by a big time organization so he doesn't get the big fights, fact is most of his best wins have come because he was chosen by the other camp as an 'opponent'. Both fighters win in this arrangements, Klitschko gets a top 10 WBC challenger and probably the only available fighter at HW today with an open schedule for VK's 'stay busy fight' and Johnson get his first payday, lots of exposure and more paydays in the future (it's worth blemishing his record).
