I scored it 49-46 Rua. I would not argue with 48-47 Rua, but any other result (imo) deserves a good kicking (And i'm a Machida fan). I know one thing, it was great to finally see Shogun on top form in the UFC!! As for the re-match, Rua is gonna give Machida all the trouble in the world again. Stylistically he truly is "All wrong" for Lyoto! How Machida performs in this fight may very well define him as a fighter, because, based on their first encounter, it is he who needs to adapt. What I do not anticipate is a ko, but hey i've been wrong many times and a decisive ko for either guy would be a good way for the fight to end!
No on both counts. Go back and watch the fight. Pay attention every time Rua actually kicks - does he land solid or is Machida blocking (with both arms no less) or moving away or is Machida landing a solid kick of his own to the legs or body of Rua? Did Rua land solidly or was he countered by a straight left to the chin from Lyoto before his attack landed? Lyoto landed solid knees to the body every time Rua went for a clinch - and failed to take Machida down. Machida won. It's not an easy fight to score beause there is so much going on. This is what high level MMA should be - two evenly matched fighters at the top of their game giving everything they have - blow for blow and move for move.
I think you may have over-analysed the fight looking for justification of the judges decisions. Rua controlled the pace of the fight, was the aggressor and landed the more damaging shots. Machida looked a beaten man at the final bell and i think he was more surprised than anyone when he got the decision. Ruas kicks to the body and legs looked to be taking there toll towards the end of the fight, so much so that Machidas corner were clearly worried by the damage being inflicted. Rua CLEARLY won that fight... it wasn't even close. Complete farce of a decision that was. Almost as bad as Tyson Fury- John McDermott!
There's no such thing as overanalysing a fight. We can agree to disagree. The judges agreed with me. Machida posted the "W." He is the champion and he will win the rematch.
Ok, we disagree, I think the rematch could go either way. I think Rua will not be keen to leave it to the judges so will probably take more risks which could play into Machidas hands. Also, Machida will now know what to expect from Shogun and can gameplan accordingly. It will probably not go the distance and i wouldnt like to say which was it will go, although im hoping for a Shogun win, if only for a potential match up with Anderson.

I hate this remark. (seen it too many times already & tries to justify a robbery)...I've watched this fight without Rogan's commentaries , and it's still blatantly obvious that Rua was robbed.
I scored it 48-47 for Rua, but I agree, rogan did sound very biased. He would scream out whenever rua landed a kick even though it would be blocked or countered by Machida. Rogan made it seem as though it was a 50-45 blowout.
