Cheers would like to see macklin tested properly before thinking of the ghost. I think at the moment Kelly Pavlik would inflict damage on macklin that would make jamie moore look soft.

Unless this guy becomes a mandatory I don't see it happening.

Some guy writes an article and we all are supposed to believe it at face value? Sounds more like a home town wish piece to me.

I personally like him and N'Jikam better than Golovkin, but I've only seen a few fights of each. Golovkin is the best boxer of the three and appears to have the best stamina of the three, but he still fights rather amateurish to me. All of them have good but not great power it seems like, although Golovkin has knocked out some guys who have decent beards. None of them have taken enough of a step up though to answer some of the key questions about any prospect - how good is their chin, how will they react when they face adversity, etc. Pirog is more aggressive in the ring than is Golovkin, which may or may not serve him well, but he's good at minimizing the amount of space there is to hit.

Macklin's been calling out Pavlik for a while now. The Pirog-Macklin winner would be a mandatory for Pavlik. Personally, I think Pavlik would spank Macklin, but he's a deserving challenger if Arum decides to go in that direction, and it would be a hell of a fight for as long as it lasted. Harder to tell with Pirog. Probably the most similar fighter to Pirog that Pavlik has faced is Zuniga, although Pirog is a lot more talented than Zuniga IMO.

There are a bunch of guys out there who might be able to beat Pavlik down the line, but they're all still a bit too green at this point, and I could see all of them having some problems with Pavlik's length.

Macklin's no Gary Lockett as you'l find out when he gets a big fight.Pavlik was totally exposed by Bhop.Of course Bhops a phenomena but at his age he should'nt be able to beat supposed top young fighters like Pavlik quite that easily.

Macklin would easily be Pavlik's best win since Taylor I.

It's not a fight I see happening in the immediate future, though it would be a cracking contest while it lasted.

I expect Macklin to beat Pirog and look at Sylvester or Sturm first, then perhaps an easy defence..... then Pavlik (assuming he remains unbeaten from now until that point).
