The thing is, Dirrell, Ward, Bute, and to a lesser extent, Froch could all outbox Abraham. The question is, does Dirrell have the courage or the heart? He didn't show it against Froch, and considering the mistakes that he makes like moving back in a straight line, dropping his hands in a corner, and just looking for a way out rather than counterpunching, you gotta ask yourself if he made any improvements since he fought Froch... Because if he hasn't, Abraham is a the type of fighter that will capitalize.
Dirrell can't run away for 12 rounds and all it needs is one good clean punch. AA is a much smarter fighter with much better ring intelligence than Froch and his punches are a lot stronger, more accurate and much faster. AA has always found a way to win his fights. If his "0" is in danger I expect him to turn into a fighting dog. AA is one hell of a warrior if necessary. He'll start to hammer Dirrell as soon as he is behind on the cards after the 8th round and he will hit his target. I predict a KO between round 8 and 12.
I can't see Dirrell escaping....he fights like a damn amateur, trying to tap the other guy and run away, hoping to win on the sole basis that he touched the other guy's head more than the other guy touched his. We're boxing here, not counting coup on our enemies. I can definitely see Abraham jumping in with a wild hook and catching Dirrell when he tries to throw his hands up and jump back along the ropes (wtf is the purpose of that anyway???). Dirrell is clearly terrified of being hit, and Abraham, if you can even hit him, is impossible to hurt. One thing's for sure, if Dirrell manages to win, the fight will have been incredibly boring. Good thing is, Dirrell won't win, because Abraham WILL catch him at some point. He catches everybody, and he's caught people who were much more experienced than Dirrell. And when he catches Dirrell, Dirrell will either go down or simply collapse mentally and get banged out on the ropes, forcing the ref to stop the fight. Abraham fights in a way that forces the other guy to take risks, and then he capitalizes. Dirrell hasn't shown that he's a smart enough fighter to beat Abraham, or anyone in the Super Six. Once Dirrell is out, he can go fight Bute or something. Maybe take on Steiglitz for the title (or whoever has the damn thing by that point). In other news: I am not a fan of Dirrell.
. . . like what I have posted previously . . . if Dirrel learned from his recent loss and throw more punches . . . I believe he can outbox Abraham. :yep
To all watch his fight agianst Oganov. Oggy started to catch him as the fight wore on. Dirrrell will not be outboxing AA. he will be Stopped or knocked down a few times
King Arthur by devastating knockout. AA's high defense will block Dirrell's jabs and the rest is clockwork.
I think Dirrell is just to sloppy and clumsy to avoid AA for 12 long rounds. That business of tripping over his own feet and falling down for no reason did not start in the Froch fight. He did the same thing against Hanshaw. As far as Oganov goes, what Zuniga did to Oganov is called an ASS WHOOPIN'!! What Dirrell did 3 fights and over a year later is called a premature stoppage. That tells us a lot about where Dirrell is really at right now.
What worries me about Dirrell at this level is his advice...I thought his corner made some glaring errors in the Froch fight as far as advice went- not telling Andre to get more greedy in his scoring showed me they were ignorant of the environment the fight was taking place in. That went a ways towards Andre's complacency to do "just enough" instead of feasting on scoring opportunities like Arreola feasts on McGriddles. Being in the US, "just enough" ought to be enough for the win, but that's still something to keep an eye on. I hope there's not a hangover from the sour taste of the Froch decision and he's 100% focused on Abraham. I'm very interested to see how this plays out. I'm currently standing by an Abraham mid round KO, but a 100% focused Dirrell with a smart gameplan winning a decision wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.
I got a feeling Dirrell will be boxing the sh*t outta Abraham for like 8 rounds until Abraham catches him with a vicious counter right
Dirrell has to fight a more consistent fight and box without lapses in concentration to beat Abraham.
The problem is Europeans think "boxing" = cheating, running, or playing dirty. If you don't fight like Ricky Hatton you're a coward.
