That was a big eye opener. You shadowbox in your mirror for months and you think you got some talent. You watch some amateurs with no snap in their shots and think to yourself, "I could do better than that". Then you step in their world for one day and realize, Boxing takes dedication and hard work. I weren't too bad on the heavy bag, but I have a lot of hard work to put in if I ever want to be any good. I came away absolutely knackered, and half the people there were better than me. I'm trying to stay positive...I did enjoy it.
If I had a nickle for every guy that said that at my gym pre uppercut to the jaw... I would have 6 nickles... Real test is if people stick around after they take a few shots. Most boxers are demented and enjoy getting punched every once in a while. Good to hear ya liked it though. Let us know when ya break your first rib or get your first mouse.
I would'nt say that I was in it for the long haul to anyone in the gym, I'd get my head down and do as I was told. I'm under no illusions how tough it is, but I'm going to give it my all and the best you could to is to wish me luck. :good
Nice one Addie stick in best thing is to realiseyou aint going to be then next Ali in afew months andyou have to work hard
Biggest thing is that you got there and had a go well done. It can only get better. Do for you no one else ! Apart from the fighting i see it as a competition against yourself like most sports ,do all you can and do your best :good
Cheers mate. Is it normal to ache all over? Also, it is just a general fitness class buti f you still at it they move you onto boxing more, but we were doing like counterpunch drills. one guy throws a jab, and you lead back and throw the right. Or, you duck under a jab and nail a right hand onto his other glove. I was okay with it, but..I just don't know what stance to stand in. I feel more comfortable jabbing with my right, but my left is weaker..
Nice too hear someone who is sounds so determined from the start. Stick with it nobody expected me to stay at it when i first started. Im sick of guys who come into our gym train a few times and are never seen again. Just curious addie, you have so many posts and have been on here so long yet why you waited such a long time to take the game up yourself?
...I don't know mate, i wish i started 3-4 years earlier. I only really became a hardcore fan say...2 years ago. But now...all I do is watch Boxing if I'm not working or going college. I love it so much I felt it's only right if I start doing it myself. I love it..it's hard work but it's just what I need in my life right now. I realize it's going to get harder and harder...but I'm in love with the sport, and I think that will see me through the tough times.
Same here mate, last few year's i've just become an absolute boxing addict. How old are you btw, mate?
