He was a top fighter in his day with incredible physical skills. Just below the likes of an Ali, Duran, or Leanord, but then again these are the uppercrust are greatness so no shame in that

very good point, but i think the consensus of boxing experts would agree, in terms of raw god given ability roys easy top 5, bu tin terms of technical boxing ability quality of opposition records and achievenments roys not even top ten, hes prolly top 20 right now but i have a feeling with a little time he will fall down closer to like 30

Spinks does for me, but other than that, Jones was a hell of a fighter.

Again Y ?? The man has done what he needed to do in boxing. I never got the feeling Roy heart was into boxing after winning the Heavy weight title, it was just something to do because he had the athletic ability to do it..

Even in the Joe fight, I heard reports that Roy was waking up at 7am to complete his road work, com on does that sound like a fighter who really wants to fight or is still hungry .. ??? No

I personally think Roy is just board and still want the lime light but he's doing in a way that he only know how boxing.

But one had spent 3 years in prison and was on the downslope of his career, I think there's a difference.

I love how we are comparing a 35 year old Jones to a 38 year old and sick Ali if you saw the recent documentary he should not have been allowed near a ring and a 38 year old Holmes.

At 38 Ali was fighting a Prime Larry Holmes

At 38 Holmes was fighting a Prime Mike Tyson

At 38 Jones was fighting Anthony Hanshaw, a shot Tito Trinidad, Prince Badi Amaju, and Omar Sheika.:lol::rofl:rofl:patsch:patsch

Huge difference there. And the one time he did fight someone worth a crap at that age he got thrashed and embarrassed by Joe Calzaghe who people here say is no good either.

Jones is a Glass Jawed fraud.

Considering Roy is nearly 41, his mother is looking very well.

Heavy weights fighters have a longer longevity then the smaller wights fighters.. To call Rjj a fraud is just plain stupid.

The man has to hang them up. It's sad he has to go like this, but it's the way it is.
