Calzaghe has good options if he returns next year. Calzaghe has already fought 3 top fighters in 2 years (Jones, Hopkins, Kessler). Returning to the ring, he first should fight a boxer who is close to top rank before fighting a top rank fighter. I like to see Calzaghe vs. Bute, since Bute was not included in the Super Six Boxing Tournament in Showtime. Bute vs. Andrade was exciting to the fans as both boxers had their moments. Calzaghe vs. Bute would generate a lot of excitment in the arena.

Leave Calzaghe alone. He's gone. It's over.

Calzaghe went to retirement because of Bute...I don't think he will come back to fight him !

Calzage would beat them all including Bute and Abraham and Ward but he is 37 yrs old and has a great legasy. Bute is good but would have trouble with a few of the better guys at 168 and he would be trouble for them as well but none of them are Joe Calzage at 168

If we're talking about Joe at his very best, I'd say he slaps the **** out of Bute. If we're talking about Joe trying to comeback, I'd say Bute knocks him out at 168. There is just no way Calzaghe could make 168 at this point and be strong and healthy.

do agree, Calzaghe has to be excited to return and fight these up and coming fighters. I wouldn't be surprise if he picks up his gloves and goes back in the ring.

calzghe is through with fighting....why blather on never-will-happen scenarios. The guy has all his senses (I believe anyway) and does not have to work for the rest of his life.....I'd gladly take his spot...

I don't believe Calzaghe ever faced a decent southpaw in his entire career. I don't think it was by design (I can't think of many good southpaws around his weight class while he was fighting), but if it was to happen, it's not as much of a gimme as some might think. I do think Calzaghe was a bit better than Bute in all the ways that matter. After being retired for 2 years, who knows, maybe his reflexes have slowed down a hair.

Doesn't matter though. Calzaghe's not leaving retirement.

No way Cal is coming back, even if by chance somehow Froch won the Super 6, nah.

Vs. Bute, Calzaghe would find a way to win doing what he does. Cal UD Bute
