Do you have your own gloves, headgear etc.?

And do you wear boxing kicks or just cross trainers?

I ask cos it's funny cos I see some guys at the gym who are sh*t, but they've got all the gear and some guys who will wrap you up who just wear a dusty tracksuit and battered kicks

Do you think ppl should get to a certain level before they turn up in their own gear and boots?

Depends on the person. Could be several factor like not caring whether they look flashy and have Winning gloves, or it could be financial issues. Boxing is the poor man's sport. My old gym in Milwaukee had tons of communal equipement that everyone used. Most of us were high school thugs, we didn't have money for headgear. Alcohol and drugs dont buy themselves.

I have all my own equipement now but I've been accumulating it for 5 years.

Got my own bag and sparring gloves and headgear for sparring. I wear gym headgear for fights because it offers more visibility (my sparring headgear has more protection).

I have boxing shoes that I only wear for fights. For training I always wear a beatup pair of basketball shoes I've had for like 5 years. The soles are almost worn through and there's a rip in the side but I figure they've got a few more months left in them lol.

No fancy shorts/shirts/tracksuits or anything like that. I have a couple shirts form tournaments I've fought in but usually I just wear old shirts, and shorts from Walmart.

The people that have all of their own Winning gear or some other expensive brand usually just have too much money and want to impress people with their fancy gear to make up for their lack of skills.

14 year old kid that used to train at my gym spent like $300 on new shoes, headgear, bag gloves, sparring gloves. A couple weeks later after getting stopped in the first round of his third fight (he was 1-1 going into it) his parents said he couldn't box anymore. D'oh!

I just have my own gloves, boots, wraps, mouthguard and groin protector. I use the gyms greenhill headgear and competition gloves in my bout, they gave me a club kit too. I just go the boxing gym 3 times a week and run about 3 times a week on the other days.
