But he won't. He's too good. He's once in a lifetime good. He's also goddamn smart, and instead of facing perfectly legit challenges, Margarito, Cotto, Mosley, Williams whoever was on the top at the time, he just skipped the hard work and waited for Pacquiao to do it for him and gain an unheard legacy, popularity and money drawing power. So after a smart tuneup vs. a common opponent, he'll just go in there and make the whopping of the wonderkid look easy. And when did ever beating Pacquiao looked so good if not today? No one was more happy to see DLH, Hatton and Cotto get their ass handed to them. Floyd's reaction was not the faked spoiled child vs. Brian Kenny, but "Now we're talking!"

Harsh reality is, we are all being tricked by Floyd.

Too much skills.

Too much reach advantage.

Too good defense.

Too good reflexes.

Too good conditioning.

Too fluid movement.

Too perfect straight right hand.

Whether it's ineffective aggression vs. crisp counterpunching leading to a decision or a statement with PacMan on his ass, Floyd's winning this fight, and I don't like it one bit! Why? Because

He's still skipping the "fighting a legit opponent your size" part.

He's still skipping a legit welterweight opponent such as World Champion Shane Mosley.

He's taking a shortcut to the top vs. a fighter he knew years ago he will face and he can beat, it was just a matter of time and the right moment would came. Just with old De La Hoya, the same shortcut Pacquiao took without facing a true danger. A brave risk I give you that. But utterly carefully calculated. And believe me, Floyd came up with Pacquiao's number some time ago. I only wish he calculated wrong. But has he ever made a mistake coming to opponent selection?

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to think Pacman was in with a chance. I guess that every fighter has a chance. But I sure as hell wouldn't be putting any money on pac winning.

It makes sense, but there's no way Floyd could have known Pacquiao would have got through the fights that he has. The more people doubt Pacquiao, the more he comes out and surprises them. Let's hope he can suprise us vs Mayweather. I think Mayweather thinks Pacquiao is just "another small dude" - he's proven he isn't, in my opinion.

 

Who was Floyd left to fight after he beat Hatton?

Cotto? Margarito? Mosley? Williams?

When Floyd avoided fighting guys like Margarito etc. it was actually all part of a masterplan which revolved around him knowing that Manny Pacquiao - a super featherweight boxer - would rapidly rise through the weight divisions and thus create the perfect opportunity for Floyd to show everyone how good he really is by beating him?

That, to surmise, Mayweather knew "years ago" that he and Pacquiao were destined to face each other in a mega-fight and that the world would watch him crush Pacquiao in a Darth Vader vs. Luke Skywalker-esque showdown?
