Kind of like Margarito right? Just throws punches until he wears his opponents out. Mosley is perfect for beating him just like PBF is. Footwork alone would kill PW.
Nah I think your wrong about his drawing power. HBO will love to have him on their telecasts, hes all action, they just have to be careful how they match him, and like you said stay away from the bigger guys at the bigger weights, especially the ones with power.
my opinion did changed about him, he has some holes..if martinez could drop PW, Floyd can, and more than once.
You are quickly turning into the most pathetic poster of all time. Anything to discredit the guy who your boy outright refused to fight. Anything.
You couldn't be more wrong! He is 28 and both Donaire and Dawson are not only younger than him at 27 but also above him in the P4P ratings.
Yeah no, not fighting Klitschko. Klitschko is what 6'7", but he fights like hes 8 feet tall leaning back on his toes jabbing and moving. Imagine if Williams fought like that where most of the welterweight are 5'9 tops.
Nah.. Paul is slightly faster than marg, has a little better stamina, a higher workrate, is taller considerably taller, and is left-handed.... But other than those minor, pesky details, you're spot on...:good
Didn't change my mind. PW just came out too fast thinking if AMbeat him, I can also... PW couldn't have come out and beaten KP that night... KP has a different style fight and a bigger punch. Styles make fights...
He got caught in that first round, fighting with the left hand down, and it clearly took him until the 4th to recover... After that he began to take over a bit and was hampered by the nasty cut resulting from a headbutt. I think second time around he fights more like he fought the Margarito fight, keeping his distance in the first half of the fight. Only difference is that Martinez doesn't have nearly the stamina that Margo has, and will find it very difficult to press the action in the latter rounds.
Martinez i guaranteed would have easily beat overrated, way too 1 dimensional Pavlik. <<<<After that happens i'll be bashing you like there's no tommorow booradley cause i'm grown tired of you bashing Williams, Goosen left and right. I have stay quiet about Pavlik post poned the fight 2 times. But i do hope Pavlik vs Martinez happens and lets see if your big mouth can back up all the talk about the great unbeatable blah blah blah Pavlik.
:happy Martinez would make Pavlik look stuck in mud. And it's amazing how people think he is some feather-fisted guy. He has some crack in those punches... And pav would find out the hard way.
Pavlik is more one dimensional than Williams, but he throws less punches and doesnt leave himself as open because of it. Hes also a true middleweight unlike Williams. I think Williams would match up well with Pavlik because their styles are similar. Martinez would give Pavlik hell like he did Williams, because of his style.
He can fight at 168, his chin is pretty good. He got knocked down but anybody can be knocked down at any weightclass so that proves nothing. The reason he went down is because he didn't see the punch and because Martinez is just that good. And no I don't blame him for fighting small and using volume when he spent 6 months preparing for a fight with Pavlik. The strategy he employed would have been perfect for Pavlik but against Martinez it is the exact wrong strategy. With Martinez he should have gone for the knock out, and relied on his height and power but against Pavlik he should have relied on his volume punching, just like he did. I actually think he has improved immensely since his Quintana days. He impressed me with his defense for a big man. He has some of the best defense in that weightclass, he was slipping punches all night long. His defense isn't as good as Mayweathers defense but its damn close. It's very difficult to hit Paul Williams to the body or to the chin, he was blocking the majority of the punches with his gloves and literally feels the punches coming which is something you can't teach in a gym. I think Williams has all the tools to be P4P #1 someday. He needs to keep improving and keep the style which is working for him. His jab is good but a double jab would be better and I did see him throw a double jab uppercut and a double jab hook/cross. He needs to use that combination because it takes advantage of his height. When he threw it against Martinez Martinez had the defensive skill to slip and dodge the jabs but he usually got hit with the uppercuts and hooks. Williams also needs to continue his combination punching, but vary the power of his punches according to which punches are effectively reaching the target. If he knows the target is vulnerable to hooks he should keep throwing combinations which end in a hook and load up his power for the hook. Beyond this he fought the perfect fight against Martinez and what we saw against Martinez would beat anyone at 147. I don't think Mayweather could beat Williams with his defense. Mayweather would be very hard to hit but Williams proved against Martinez that he can hit anybody no matter how good their defensive skills are. He also proved he can take a punch to land a punch which is exactly what you'd need to do to beat Mayweather because you will get hit against Mayweather but if you throw 5 punches to every 1 punch he lands you are also guaranteed to hit him. Mayweather can be hit and hit often when you throw combinations and DLH saw this. At 160 there are fights for Williams. I think Williams can beat Pavlik, and know Williams can knock out Cintron. Williams can dominate at 160 as there is not anyone who he cannot beat. 168 he needs to stay away from, because with the exception of Taylor he has no chance at beating Andre Ward, Carl Froch, Arthur Abraham or any of the guys in the super six. His body hasn't grown enough to fight at 168 and his skills aren't advanced enough yet, but I do think we will see him there when hes 30 and I do think he will win a title because he can beat Taylor and has a chance at beating at least some of the fighters.
