Is only open about 4 days a week and a maximum of 1.30 hour at a time. Is that good enough? Feels like I'll hardly get time to work. I do a have a normal gym I'm a member of but that just has some pads you can hit and gloves. with some mits. That's it. Should I look around for a better gym, or is it normal for one only to be open that amount of time?
well, if you make it every day...get good skill work while your their...actual pointers, MITT WORK, and when your ready (I am assuming you want to fight) good proper sparring..then it is enough, but you should also be running on your own, doing some type of strength work...maybe weights..but be careful you dont tighten up. or old school pull ups, chin ups, dips, push ups..that kind of thing. really working out more then a hour and a half is a waste..if you push yourself hard, thats pefect, anything more and your just overtraining and breaking down.
I gurantee I could exhaust you in less then a minute. Its what you dot hat counts. Most can get a good workout in an hour.
If you're just trying to stay in shape maybe;Not nearly enough to make any serious progress in boxing.
you probabaly could aswell? how sthe comeback going? really 1 1/2 hours a night sounds aright to me if you get down every night and all that
Thing is, I work evenings part time so the chances of me being able to make every night is slim at best.
my gyms open 7pm till 8.30pm every uesday and Thursday but i train an hour extra on a Friday of just sparring then conditioning on Saturday and Sunday for 2 hours with some sparring with a younger guy at the end but thats more me showing him some moves and helping him out
You see, the gym I'm going to might be open on extra days too I just wouldn't know about it. There's another gym a bit further away from me that's supposedly open on more days and does have better amateurs there.
well if its not too far try it out also it might take a while to need extra sessions like when you start off you dont need as much training sessions as when your fighting IMO thing is when i firt started i just did 1 night a week for a year till the coaches saw i was getting better (and the gyms 30 minutes away by car) so my Mum and Dad started taking us more days (tuesday and Thursday) and now im doing the friday and weekend.
Okay well that makes me feel a bit better. I can go the 1 night a week for now until I get better..and my mate who lives 20 mins away by train is boxing too and says they have great facilities down there open on Sunday. Was thinking about getting down there 1 every 2 weeks too. Is that okay if your just starting out in your opinion GPater?
