Okay I would say I am a bigger Lopez fan than Morales since Lopez is one of the first 6 fighters I watched as a kid along with an old Ali,Chacon,Duran,Sanchez and an up and coming SRL. But i wont be biased here and Im gonna go with Morales . They were both about the same ht. id say Lopez was definitly the harder puncher,Morales definitly the better boxer, both had excellent chins although slight edge to Morales. If Morales countered Lopez and fought a disciplined fight by countering I think he could possibly stop Lopez late or win a tough but convincing decision. However if Lopez could draw Morales into a slugfest (which is highly likely) I could just as easily see Lopez knocking out Morales.
This would have been fun while it lasted! Good choice but Morales is a class above "Little Red" and would have taken him apart after some vicious early ebb and flow. Morales KO 8 Lopez
I'm a big fan of both but I'm gonna go for Lopez in a war. Been watching a lot of him lately and my conclusions are that despite a couple of knockdowns I think he had an ATG chin. Against Olivares, Sanchez and Ayala he took huge shots flush without wilting. For a fighter who was used to knocking them over early he had great stamina and never stopped coming forward. I think Morales would oblige him meeting him head, maybe even forced to and the fight could really end at any point by KO for Lopez, probably in the later rounds though. .
Regardless of what videos get posted up to the contrary, Morales is too hittable against possibly the hardest hitting Featherweight ever. Lopez himself is hittable, but would usually rise. Morales, trying to take him out, gets hit with one of those shots. Don't know when; for the basis of making a pick, Lopez K.O 6.
Votes mean nothing anyway, if anything the vote option allows people to voice their opinions without actually giving reasons. Glad you made the voting public though Anarci :good
I feel Lopez would struggle against Morales combination punching as he did against Sanchez. All depends on how Morales reacts when Lopez inevitabley lands one of his bombs on his chin. Morales does tend to get hit alot but once he feels the power from one of the hardest featherweight punchers ever I think 'El Terrible' would be more elusive (as against Ayala at times) and take a decision with a few scares along the way.
Morales was a lot of things, but his name and that adjective don't belong in the same sentence. Am I the only one who thinks that Morales went toe to toe out of necessity rather than choice?
The fight must be 12 rds because Morales never did or trained for 15 rds. Morales was higher skilled in most departments if not all, Lopez had murderous power but Morales had the chin to take the odd shot from Lopez & the recovery ability to not wait around for more.... the brawling rds would be awesome & close but the rds where Morales boxed would be the rds where he would pull away on the cards. Morales UD12 Lopez.
I'm not going to make a prediction, but I don't think there's many Featherweights in history if any who knock out prime Morales.
Yes, probably. Anyone that has followed Morales career enough to give opinions on him knows that he had a better defence than given credit for by those that havent seen enough of him.
