Happiest: - Pacquiao knocking out Hatton - Mayweather knocking out Hatton - Pacquiao destroying Barrera - Naz beating Kelley - Pacquiao's masterful display against Oscar. Say what you want about the weight issue, but that for me was Pacquiao's greatest ever performance in the ring. Saddest: - Tyson getting stopped by Lewis - Cotto taking the punishment from Margarito - Cotto re-living the nightmare against Pacquiao - Gatti losing against Gomez - Naz losing to Barrera - Morales losing the rubber match against Barrera
I forgot to mention the Cotto loss to Margarito. I was rooting for him(still root for him) and to see him lose like that broke me.
Happiest: Vazquez - Marquez II Corrales - Castillo I Brewster - Klitschko I Saddest: The passing of Vernon Forrest. (Got the news in the morning and stayed inside for the entire day, just watching Forrest highlights and tributes) The passing of Diego Corrales (I couldn't believe it, and it took me a full year for it to really sink in) Brewster - Klitschko II (Absolutely gutted, I was almost in tears) Tyson - McBride (Gutted beyond belief, Mike deserved to go out with a bang) Embarrassing: Kessler - Ward
Oh this ones easy for me man !!!!!!! Happy - Hatton - Tszyu Sad (Crushed Sad) - Mayweather Hatton & De La Hoya - Pacquiao .
I honestly think my saddest and happiest momnets came at the same time. When I watched Danny "Little Red" Lopez hand his War Bonnett over to Salvador Sanchez, I witnessed one of the coolest moments in boxing history, but that **** was bitter-sweet.
one of the happiest was Barry Maguigan winning the title , he was great that night , Frank Bruno doing himself proud and landing a punch on tyson before getting stopped on his feet in the 5th , Ray Leonard coming out retirement and getting decision over hagler. Worst moments definatley the Hatton / Pac , i know i shouldnt say it , but i got caught up in the 24/7 hbo and thought hatton had a chance of winning!!!. Best and worst moment in the same fight was Benn vs McClellan
Tyson vs Lewis pissed me the **** off. That fight was an injustice to boxing and to Mike Tyson. The match up should have never been made.
Happiest: Calzaghe-Hopkins, but only because their was about 30 of us stuffed into my mates front room and when Calzaghe got the win everyone went beserk. It was a really great atmosphere. Saddest: Cotto-Marg was just tearful. Then Cotto-Pac was basically the same and made me feel so ****ing sad. Hatton-Mayweather was another sad one.
The Cotto lost to Margo was and still is pretty hard to take. I'm still not over his lastest lost to Pac either. I really felt he had what it took to beat Pac and would get his career back on track in good fashion and a month later team Cotto is contemplating retirement. Watching Taylor get knocked out in the last 20sec of his fight with AA was pretty sad. I'm not a huge Taylor fan but he's a likeable guy and I thought he made a good account of himself during that fight before the KO. I was rooting for him to get things back on track. I also was pretty taken back by the Ortiz lost to maidana. I like Ortiz and watching him quit the way he did was not so much sad, but a little shocking and disheartening. I guess it was more dissappointing than anything. I also felt it was sad to watch Pac take apart a very old and past his prime ODLH. He looked defenseless and it was sad to see that version of him. I was pretty happy when Quintana beat Williams. Not a huge fan of either fighter but I generally root for the underdog and with him being PR and Williams being touted as the most feared guy in boxing I was pretty happy for Quintana. I was most happy when Trinidad beat ODLH. I was also pretty happy when Cotto beat Shane. It was a career defining win.
I don't get emotional when it comes to boxing - I don't have favourite fighters, and thus don't have any happiest moments. Saddest moments? The deaths of Forrest and Levander Johnson really got to me in a big way and damaged the love I had for the sport quite badly. I wasn't alive to see Ali - Holmes when the fight actually happened but it's difficult for me to watch. In more recent times seeing Wayne McCullough getting pleading to carry on in the Oscar Larios fight when the doctor pulled him out was sad.
Many happy moments, but without doubt the saddest moment was when Lewis beat Tyson! I had butterflies in my stomach for that fight & I wasn't even boxing! Lol. I knew from Tyson's ringwalk that he was not going to win. He looked apprehensive, did not look animated, a bit docile to be honest! Was & still am gutted to a certain degree! No disrepsect to Lewis either
