Welters of the 80's would be too much for Manny and Floyd

I respect boxing from all era's but we are now in a place where if you lose your last fight your finished , but if you win then your the greatest of all time, i have put a poll to question the follwoing.

If Don Curry , Marlon Starling , Mark Breland , Aaron Davis were fighting today would any of the welters still be champions , I personally think only one and that is Mosley , but the rest would be struggling , and to get to the top you would have to go through Simon brown, Maurice Blocker, , even the likes of Honneyghan and McCrory . I think floyd and Manny would avoid this division and stick at 135, still being Champions , but not at Welter .

wheres the mention of leonard and hearns? if pacquiao is a welterweight after only one fight why not mention their names? but no I do not think they would be too much. not saying they wouldn't win either. i do think it would be close though

Floyd would beat every one of those guys....so would manny...manny may struggle more with curry....leonard and hearns would pose problems for anyone but PBF would compete better than manny imo with them due to reach and defense....dif era's get way to much credit

Didn't you see Leonard beat the tar out of Mayweather Sr? Pacquiao is a brawler, so I could see him having a go at SRL.

You could have put this a little better i think what you meant to say was people look on era's gone by with fondness and maybe blinkers on.

Having said that Floyd Mayweather would be ****ing good in any era!!

    Yeah this!:good

Do people think boxers get worse generation to generation?

Because for my money training methods are better now so if you put the SRL of the early 80's training methods against the FMJ of todays would this not be a total mismatch in Floyds favour?

I dunno this is another thread someone start it:think

    Leonard
    Hearns
    Benitez
    Duran
    Cuevas
    And the list goes on.

If the top welters of today had fought in the early 80's, they would have struggled to break the top 10. That's not idol worship. That is a fact of boxing history that any student of the game is aware of.

manny pacq is not a welterweight...he demolished cotto who is not a natural welter either.... but whats the point of explaining why a true solid natural welter would own him? you guys obviously started watching boxing in 2009. its no knock against manny..its just a great welterweight will always beat a great featherweight.....
