A couple of weeks ago former ESB poster acb sent me Aaron Pryor career set in the mail and I tried to like Pryor as a fighter but for some reason the guy bores me to death. It's not to say Aaron Pryor was not a great fighter, he was but his awkward style of fighting doesn't do it for me and his fights in general just bore me to death. So far I have watched at least seven fights of his, maybe someone here can suggest a fight of his I should watch.

Whats your thoughts on Pryor and him as fighter?

He was about as far from boring as any fighter you could think to mention. Talk about an all out action fighter. If you think Pryor/Arguello I was boring, or Pryor/Dujuan Johnson then I don't know what the hell to tell you. If you dislike his style I can understand that, some fighters just aren't as pleasing to the eye as others. Pryor had a lot of substance behind all that flash and unorthodoxy, though.

Yes Pryor was an all out action fighter but it doesn't mean that I find his particular form of action to be entertaining.

If you are my age you were kind of spoiled because there were so many great, exciting fighters. Pryor, Bobby Chacon, Boza Edwards, Bazooka Limon, were early 80's staples on network TV and all were exciting as hell.

I'm ambiguous, largely because he got Arguello when he was on the slide and Cervantes when he was past it in addition to not having many other quality names on his ledger. And I can't put the Panama Lewis thing out of my head whether was Pryor was guilty of it or not.

Still, he was terrific to watch (if not stylistically pleasing) and a head-to-head nightmare at light welter. But it get's on my tits when people say that he was avoided.

I must have seen only his good fights, because I remember the Hawk as being anything but boring. He was a non-stop punching machine who never let up, and who was nearly impossible to hurt. The first Arguello fight was a classic, and the second was pretty good as well. He never came close to losing until after age and "personal problems" had taken their toll. A great fighter.

Pryor's relentless aggression always upped the tempo of the bout. The Hawk was indeed both show and substance.

Im lost for words. I just dont understand how anyone can call Pryor boring regardless of whether they liked or disliked his style. I thought he was a great fighter to watch. I suppose one mans meat is another mans poison

Pryor wasn't exciting because he didn't carry with him that element of fear of getting sparked by a jab ;-).

Fast, relentless, IN YOUR FACE, type of fighter. I don't believe all this" he would've given Ray Leonard problems" deal, but he was a mutha at 140.I can see why certain fighters at 135 were scared of him.:good

I always thought Pryor was a very exciting fighter. But it seems certain that some of his endurance was due to Panama Lewis lacing his water with antihistimane. And I wonder if his gloves were loaded like Resto vs Collins. I can't take him on face value anymore. Too many questions.
