Appleby for me, his last outing didnt go to plan but still the best natural talent imo. At 21 0r 22 he has a long way to go and only needs a couple of tweaks then he will surpass domestic level imo.

He's changed trainer now too so we might see those tweaks.

Burns is going to challenge for a version of the world title and has a decent change of winning IMO. As much as I like watching John and love his fluent, all action style, I think he has very little defense and therefore I can't see him doing anything beyond European level.

Mckewan has been fighting some decent guys but I'd like to see him tested against some of the best in Britain before I judge him. He looks decent against these guys in America but it's hard to put his performances into context when you haven't seen the guy he's fighting box before, although he did beat that boy that stopped Andy Lee.

If Rickster beats Martinez Mik??? THATS a win thats gonna make waves. & If Burns wins? Im gonna love it, after I was slaughtered here years ago for saying Ricky Burns was gonna be a future world champion...

In fact, ESB better hope Burns loses, cos Im never going to stop gloating about how I said it years ago when Ricky was a novice & people scoffed... are you reading JC???

Me too Dunky. I remember he was getting pelters after the Arthur defeat.

That's just boxing fans I guess.

MIK, you are welcome to gloat alongside me if Ricky wins. You & I have been long term Burns cheerleaders here, long before even the great Billy Nelson arrived here.

It was the Johanneson fight that sticks in my mind the most, a certain poster when Burns got beat personally slagged me off, "Dunky looks like a twat now, as if Burns could ever win a world title"

Well, JC could yet be proven correct. However, I got him sweating now, make no mistake:D
I bet the **** never thought Burns would be in the world title mix after that night, but proper boxing fans know a good fighter when they see one, & they dont write a man off because of defeats, & here we are, & Im loving it:deal

I wish ESB hadn't crashed and me still had records of these threads. It would be good to "get it right ****in' up them". :happy

Hopefully Kevin Anderson comes back in 2010 and cleans up in the welterweight division.

Both Burns and Simpson have been really impressive recently. These guys are a testament that experiencing some defeats early on in your career doesn't mean anything as long as you learn from them. Simpson in particular has been on a roll recently but I have to pick Burns as I reckon he can go further with his career.

Craig McEwan has looked good in the fights I've seen him in but he needs to fight more regularly and I'd love to see him back over here in a domestic tear up with someone like Macklin, Barker or even Moore.

Is Anderson still boxing? the last I heard he had chucked it cause he couldnt believe he got beat from Kevin McIntyre, and was fed up with it. Had bags of potential but got ruined by going down south, learned **** all down there.

At the moment the best fighters from Scotland would have to be Burns and Simpson...I can't really see beyond those two. Second tier would be fighters like Kevin McIntyre, Gary Young, Barry Morrison, and Willie Limond
