He should have been up for some sort of award for a marvellous career but its an award for 2009 of which hes spent large parts of it as a substitute!!I guess where phone votes are concerned you cant compete against the red scums massive army of gloryhunting supporters! And he has all the personality of a boiled potato. The progam is a joke!

Personally I don't give a flying **** about football or giggs. Just gutted some mid-range football player was considered more worthy than the heavyweight champion of the world. Ok A heavyweight Champion of the World - but Britains first in a quite a while. There was a time when that was the most prestigious position in sport and people actually gave a ****. I'm sick of football stealing all the airtime. The media dictate what we should and shouldn't watch these days and boxing is violent so the advertisers ergo the broacasters shy away from it.

I agree with what your saying man..

There was a time, when everyone knew who the Heavyweight Champion of the world was.......

That time has gone, and it will never come back.

Too many bullshiters in boxing, and basically it's just ****ed up.

Giggs is hardly a mid-range football player. Pure ignorance.

Ryan Giggs has done more in a sporting career that David Haye ever will and that's a fact.

    Ryan Giggs = legend.

He was amazing last year, his 2 premiership goals were brilliant and he was so good he spent half the season sitting on the bench. I cant comprehend the stupidity of these awards he's getting.

Theres about 10 Man Utd players more deserving let alone everywhere else!

And really I think you guys just summed up exactly why Haye didn't win or shouldn't have even got close based on sporting achievements. He isn't THE heavyweight champion of the world, if he was he probably would have won it. He won a paper title in a pretty non-descript fight, sorry but thats the reality. Let's not be blinded by our love for boxing.

To me its fitting Giggs won it, he's been played football at the top level for 20+ years at the same club and has won more than anybody. Coming off a decent season and continuing that form I think its just as much for his entire career and why the **** not? It's pretty rare what he's done.

Giggs might have warranted a lifetime achievement award or something..... but not SPOTY.

    Sorry.

Thats the problem, it's an award for the year. He was "decent" and that was it. If they wanted a career award for him thats perfectly fair but this award is just a complete stain and embarassment on the whole ceremony.

Pathetic. A few good performances this season and it somehow outways winning a Heavyweight Title or Formula One World Championship. May aswell of ****ing given it to David Dunn if that's the case.
