I see many people posting about the steadiness, and demise, of the UFC. I see others saying Strikeforce will surpass the UFC, and others saying Strikeforce is simply next in the out of business category. I decided to post a division comparison between the two promotional companies. One thing is obvious the UFC's LHW division is filled with names. There's always a good fight to make.
Strikeforce has a great chance to build up their HW and LW divisions, those have historically been the weight classes with the best talent spread over many organizations. If they can get a few more LW's of their own and work with Dream they will have a solid division. Trying to compete at 205, 185, and especially 170 head to head with the UFC in terms of both depth and top fighters is a losing proposition.
The Strikeforce heavyweight roster is a little stronget talent wise, but we have yet to see if they can put enough good events on to make it a legitmate, competitive division. Maybe they should just concentrate on this division.
That's a glimpse. My post had too many names, and I took out a large chunk of UFC welterweights. The Strikeforce welterweights appear to be that thin. That is why Shields is at 185.
SF is coming along. They can succeed where EliteXC (and others) failed. Of course, SHINE is waiting in the wings, too. DREAM will probably remain like Pride - huge global/internet cult following but never gaining a foothold with mainstream U.S. audiences.
UFC is the biggest MMA organization in the world. The only thing strikeforce has that ufc don't is FEDOR.
Well, that's obviously true. Nobody's even thinking about arguing with that. Well, that's obviously not true. He isn't their only good asset. If you want to say he's the only household name or franchise-worthy roster member, fine. Strikeforce do have good fighters and are a credible secondary promotion, and head and shoulders above all the tertiary ones IMO.
They defenitely are the 2nd best MMA organization right now. They have some talent but most of them are ex ufc fighters. They do have fighters that i would love to see in the ufc or back in the ufc. Fedor-Mousasi are the two i want to see the most fight in the ufc. Shields-Lawler-big foot silva-arlovski-rogers-henderson are also some of the fighters i like to see compete in the ufc.
