David Haye's trainer Adam Booth believes he has identified how to beat Vitali Klitschko after the Ukrainian retained his WBC heavyweight title in Bern on Saturday night.

Klitschko produced a workmanlike performance to condemn the previously unbeaten Kevin Johnson to his first defeat with a unanimous points victory.

Booth believes Haye has the beating of the 38-year-old and told Sky Sports News: "It was a typical Vitali performance. He does the same thing over and over again and everybody that he fights is unable to pose a question of his style.

Booth added: "He plants his feet in range, uses his height to lean back out of the way of hitting coming back that may have substance on it and uses his strong arms to push so repetitively.

"He does the same thing every second of every round of every fight and it amazes me that these so-called elite heavyweights cannot figure out that there is a simple answer to that style to be able to land your punches."

Haye was scheduled to fight Vitali's brother Wladimir earlier this year but the Briton was forced to withdraw because of injury.

Instead his next bout saw him beat Nikolay Valuev last month to claim the WBA title since when Haye has been calling for a meeting with Vitali.

Klitschko declared himself ready to meet Haye, saying: "This will be very interesting to fight Haye but let's see what next year brings.

"Right now Haye will be fighting John Ruiz. I wish him luck and let's see."

Well he was spot on with the tactics for Haye's fight with Valuev and i'm sure they will be when Haye finally meets VK sometime next year!

Booth is naive if he thinks these Americans are coming over with no gameplan. Of course they have a gameplan.

Having and implementing it is a different matter though.

probably the fact that vitali throws no uppercuts, it would be easy for haye to make himself as small a target as possible due to to vitalis lack of variation

Some of them definitely come over to lose though, theres no doubt about that.

The Klitschko's deserve praise for the way they deal with opponents, keep themselves in amazing shape etc but Johnson for example didnt even try anything, it's not like he was just nulified by Vitali, he actually didnt even bother trying anything.

Johnson's whole plan seemed to be to lose by decision.

Like fighter, like trainer lol! Seems Booth's comments are just as controversial as Haye's in the press......well not quite as bad!!

I think he has a point, the Klit of now is defintely less mobile than the Klit of old. Personally I think Haye has the speed, power and work-rate to beat Klit.

The thing is Haye wont do what most of VK's opponents have done lately - stand in range and let themselves get backed up on the ropes. It's not rocket science you can see what VK does with his feet. Edging forwards all the time and before you know it you're trapped and VK is unloading shots. Haye will use all of the ring. He'll use angles and he wont just stand there and let VK do his thing. He'll potshot his way through the fight and he'll break VK down. VK doesn't have foot speed, great body movement and Haye and Booth will exploit this.

I'm telling you all right now that, if the figth happens, Haye will win it inside the twelve rounds.

Move forward and land first is the key I think. All these guys Either plod after him or back away when he steps forwards. When a guy has a big height advantage and throws a lot of punches then that isn't a very good idea. Lewis laid the blueprint for beating Klitschko which is to pressure him. Being fast enough to be able to beat him to the punch is an obvious advantage with that gameplan in mind. Haye has the tools to trouble Vitali imo, unfortunately I think he's too fragile to actually beat him.

He'll only be too fragile if Vitali's shots land. Haye will have a similar gameplan to the Valuev fight. Hit and don't get hit.

I don't think he can rely on those tactics myself, Vitali is a lot better than Valuev

I think that Haye can KO Wlad easy enough...:yep

I think the only way he beats Vitali is by applying the sweet science...I also think that this fight might stink the joint out too, but if it gets the desired outcome a W is W and Haye will be the Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the World...:happy

The American heavyweights gameplans seem to have been 'OMG that guy is huge, wtf am I doing here'.

Seconded. Haye will talk about all out war and rip into VK during the media tour but when the bell rings he'll be using the sweet science, no doubt. But if he lands that right hand that landed on Valuev's nut VK is gonna do a chicken dance all of his own.

Test out those dodgy legs using movement.

I'm not convinced about Vitali's stamina either....... he has faced stationary targets in each of his fights since returning - make it a priority to make him fight three minutes of every round - not that he hasn't done that already, but he has been allowed to dictate the pace at which he did so.
