If any of you think that this new and improved BJ will beat GSP, please think it over. GSP is just too good, too strong, too athletic. A 3rd fight will look exactly like the 2nd. Penn is my favorite fighter, GSP my 2nd but I have no delusions. GSP is all wrong for Penn.

A third fight between these two are not even being discussed.GSP has moved on and needs to prove nothing more in terms of BJ.

I'm seeing it all over the internet. Many fans are discussing it. If GSP stays at WW, this fight is inevitable as long as BJ wins 1 or 2 more LW fights. They will allow him to move up, feed him Koscheck and then set up the 3rd GSP fight. Penn gets what he wants in the UFC, and he wants this fight.

Only way BJ is going to get anywhere near winning is if he somehow develops some unreal strength and cardio.

The "New and improved" BJ Penn fought GSP at the end of January of this year. As many fans will know, GSP completely dominated that fight, en route to a fourth rd tko (BJ's corner pulled him out of the fight) and I can't believe that these two will be fighting each other again any-time soon. I agree that a 3rd fight between these two great fighters would probably go the way of the 2nd. BJ would have success against many welterweights, but, as you say, stylistically GSP (Who has also improved dramatically from their first encounter) is "All wrong" for BJ, as the second fight proved! As for GSP being "Too good", I suppose that depends on how you view these two superb champions. If you take the view that BJ is above GSP in the p4p rankings, then the obvious conclusion is that GSP is simply "Too big". If you rate GSP above BJ, then GSP could be considered "Too good & too big". No matter, both are ATG's!

:yep Made me think of that cartoon gif of GSP slipping and running away from BJ :rofl

With or without, GSP whether he started taking Growth Hormones or not or just upped his training but after his first fight with Penn, he has improved tremendously and has not lost a second of any fight since. His strength, explosiveness and cardio is off the charts and he is too much of an athlete to lose to a smaller man now.

When I said "too good" I mean he is too good for BJ to overcome the size advantage. Like Koscheck is much bigger and stronger then BJ, but he isn't skilled enough to compliment his advantages in size and strength to beat BJ, IMO. BJ has enough of an advantage in skill to overcome the size advantage, just like with Hughes...but GSP has the skills to go along with his size. Also GSP is the best at what you have to be the best at to beat BJ. Takedowns, cardio and controlling your opponent.

Feed him Koscheck? I think BJ Penn-vs-Josh Koscheck would be an interesting and competitive fight. How about BJ Penn-vs-Thiago Alves? My point is this: Both guys would be a tough nights work for BJ. And let's be honest, there is a reason why almost all fighters "Move down" rather than "Move up" the divisions, it's because the guys they were competing against previously were, to paraphrase, "Too big"! There is a huge difference between a lightweight and someone like Alves, or Anthony Johnson, isn't there? As you say, fans are discussing a 3rd GSP-Penn fight but surely they haven't forgot what happened in the 2nd fight? Which took place this year!

:good I agree with what you have wrote. I do however think that a BJ Penn-vs-Josh Koscheck match-up would be an interesting and competitive fight. I agree, BJ is undoubtedly the superior fighter and Koscheck probably could not utilise his physical advantages, but it wouldn't be a walk-over, by any means!! How about BJ Penn-vs-Thiago Alves?? Now that WOULD be a very interesting fight IMO. What do you think?

I think Penn would have real trouble with Alves's leg kicks, but who knows. Would Penn try and take Alves down? Could Penn dominate Alves standing? You're right, very interersting fight. One I hope doesn't happen.

To be honest I do not see this fight happening even though BJ would fight absolutely anyone!! And your right Alves would cause BJ all kinds of trouble. BJ would probably let Alves' pre-fight talk (Not that Alves is a trash-talker, but he would state that he was going to "Knock BJ out") effect him enough to get involved in a "stand-up" battle, which would not be the smart play!! Alves would definitely test BJ's iron beard! It would be an interesting fight for so many reasons, but personally I would prefer it if the great man stayed at 155.
