Yeah, I wouldn't mind him facing Maynard and Edgar assuming they are in a good position for a title shot but I don't want him wasting time fighting guys who interest nobody.
I would still like to see maynard fight another top contender before he gets a shot at bj penn. A fight against stevenson-florian or sherk would be nice. If he could beat any of the 3 then he deserves a shot.

I'd like to see the UFC put on a tournament to find the top contender to BJ's title, there's nobody that stands out as either deserving of a shot or a threat to BJ.
true but lets take out florian-stevenson-sherk and sanchez out of the tournament so new blood can get a shot. Maynard-edgar-griffin-? would be nice.
Put you need a 4th party to that tournament but who ? Maybe Jose Aldo ? That is probablly the best idea let BJ take a vacation even if he does live in Hawaii :yep Then let 4 guys determine who deserves the next shot. I wanna see fights where BJ is facing a guy where you can atleast find a way to create a competitive fight on paper.
Interesting note, Maynard was brought into one of BJ's camps before Maynard ever started fighting, to help BJ prepare his wrestling.
Lets be serious, Maynard would get stopped. He would get dominated on his feet and shut down trying to take BJ down. Edgar would get smashed too. Diego vs Edgar Florian vs Maynard Winners fight for a title shot.
And I'm sorry, but if Maynard or Edgar can't beat Florian or Sanchez, I don't want to see them fight BJ.
Edgar already beat Sherk which is a better win at LW than Florian or Sanchez. Maynard already declined a title shot with the reason that he wanted more experience before going after Penn. As I see it, Edgar is the most deserving contender at the moment.
Brutal idea! that means BJ will be out for over a year and what if after all that time Diego wins again? Who would want to see that? And Florian just had his shot as well so those 2 shouldn't be in the picture so soon. If Maynard wins his next fight he deserves the shot. He would have wins over Diaz,Huerta,Edgar,Clementi,Jim miller and siver. He's undefeated and should be the clear #1 since he has a recent win over Edgar. What more does the guy have to do? I think it's about a guy earning his shot not whether they shouldn't even fight because BJ is too good for them. Diego was the perfect style for BJ, a guy who comes straight forward throwing punches and it showed.
