Hardly. He fought 6 reigning title holders. The only mark against him is ignoring his mandatory challenger in Marquez.
Naz was a cocky, arrogant, self-centered ***** who had amazing natural talent and beat a lot of decent op but was never good enough to compete with the elite fighter's of his era. People claim it was his 'lack of training' and what not, but a true champion would use the re-match clause to his advantage, train harder and put on the fight of his life. Hamed however, knowing he tried everything in his power to beat Barrerra, realised he come up against the best and couldn't hack it, gave up. Simple.
I wish MAB didnt get KNFO vs Junior Jones because had he won he would have fought a hungry, prime Naz Hamed and would have got KNFO
Hamed wasnt really bothered by the time he fort Barrera, He didnt care about training, He thought he was just going to go in there and KO Barrera because he done it to everyone else, soon has he knew he couldnt put Barrera away he gave in, Not slagging him because he is one of my greatest all time fighters, but he had the wrong mentality all together and he wasnt listening to his trainers at all, Just thought he could KO everybody which he couldnt.
Naz would have KO'd McGuigan no trouble...:yep I used to love watching Naz... :good He should never have left Brendan...:yep I think that if Naz would have boxed MAB 100 times he would lose 100 times, there are some fighters who just have your number and in this case MAB had Naz's number everyday of the week...:yep
Fair enough Nonsense. Well that's what happens when you dance around sticking your chin out with your hands down. He wanted to be tagged. You can see it, particularly in the Kelley and Sanchez fights. He wanted them to put him down so he could just get back up again and KO them. Those fights are actually pretty funny to watch. There's a clear gulf in class in every department between Hamed and them. And actually, he wasn't down that many times. His head was gone by the time he got there. nah, plenty of reasons to suggest he could have been good enough, but didn't have the heart.
The speed and power of naz was the best in boxing at the time, no fight frm featerweight too lightweight could have gone toe to toe wiv naz and won, barrea boxed him used his head and did get mixed up wiv naz in his game. I think he should have fought morales more naz style some one who likes too fight den to box
I think the prince has amazing talent, by far the best featherweight britain has ever had, we should appreci ate him more. I am a naz fan, sure he ws coky and arragonant but that was part of what made him, which other goes in the ring and say I'm knock him out in the 3rd and do it, he ws remarkable.
i think the ingle version of naz gives a better account of himself against MAB then the dellusional 1 under steward who clearly seemed interested in other things outside of boxing he has a pritty good record, kelly, tom johnson, bungu, paul ingle, wayne mcclough,Vazquez and steve robinson were no slouches, if he fought and beat junior jones after jones beat MAB then i'm sure history would have judged him slightly better, ppl often say naz was exposed by berrara who'd just moved up in weight to fight him but these same ppl suck james toneys balls dispite getting beat in an absolute shutout by roy jones who was making his debut at 168
Very good fighter, very good resume, very good accomplishements. Not great, not elite, got soundly beaten by the best.
Naz fought everybody there was to fight. He knocked most of them out. He was unlucky to meet a very determined and very focused Barrera who had just come through that epic battle with Erik Morales and was on a roll. Naz was under-prepared and was also unable to deal with the aftermath of that crushing defeat. That's the biggest shame of it all. A rematch wirh Barrera and possible fights with Morales, Marquez and Pacquiao could have been legendary.
