Tillis laid out the blueprint for beating Tyson and Douglas carried it out to perfection. Like Ali would have done, box, move, stay out of range and tie him up in close. Incidentally the fighters that did do this were all over 6' tall and rangy with good jabs who could keep Mike at arms length or at least wrap him up in a bid to avoid getting KOed. Smaller fighters who couldn't get out of the way were doomed which is why I don't think previous champions who were just about 6" tall and below 200lbs would've fared very well. I just don't see a 185lb man stopping Tyson no matter who he is or how good he may have been. Tyson was bigger and faster than all of them and more powerful as well (At least a prime Tyson was). I don't see Rocky doing it or Patterson or Dempsey (Although he has the best chance IMO). Tyson as a preteen was probably bigger than many of the previous champions were in thier prime! A bigger boxer like Ali, Holmes, Lewis etc stands the best chance or a big clubber like Foreman who could potentially stop Mike early in a kill or be killed scenario could do it but a 185lber who was slower and less powerful? I don't think so.

I love people that place Tyson just above a Tillis because Tillis took him the distance. Yep, one fight defines a man's entire career.

Nevermind all of the champions and top tier talent Tyson absolutely crushed like never before.

I guess Spinks, Holmes, Berbick, Tucker, Thomas, and Ruddock, along with a slew of other #1 contenders, all must be significantly inferior to Tillis, right?:patsch

Tyson would crush all the smaller men mentioned. Although Holyfield would have the best shot of all of them, but i agree that the Holyfield that Tyson fought had 25 more pounds of muscle.

Joe Calzaghe, Roy Jones, Bernard Hopkins, Charles, Langford, and Eubanks are just some of the super middleweights who could have done it with the help of steroids.

I agree, It's a total joke. Blueprint? Yeah everyone knew if you boxed a smaller guy at distance and kept him from throwing punches inside you could beat him? That was no blueprint just common sense. Thats like saying Rahman and Mcall laid out the gameplan to beat Lennox Lewis, hit him on the chin with a big righthand and he'll go to sleep.

Are you for real? Tyson would annihilate them. Calzaghe etc are built for him. They haven't the power to make him respect them. If Tyson has no fear of an opponent he takes them out easily. At his best he is a serious challenge to any man in history. H2H over a series of 3 he is a serious proposition for anyone.

yeah but tyson dont like pressue..i know...marciano is only 185, dempsey at his best 195..i say they are still stronger then 300 pound bench press max evander holyfield..i know bench press has nothing to do with boxing..but we still know holy wasnt that strong..and while that tyson wasnt prime tyson...it wasnt like it was 40 year old tyson either...
