I think that Margarito may have been drained. But he was probably mentally defeated knowing that he lost his secret weapons, and that he was going up against a fellow cheater who still may have been undetectable steroids.
That's my stance on it as well. And nobody can say he was overlooking Shane because if he was he wouldn't have felt the need to have plaster elements within his hand wraps.
Well lets face it, every fight margarito is in is hard because of his style. Margarito is a fighter that take some type of punishment every fight, Tony has relied on his resilience to get past his opponents, who's to say that his style did not catch up with him.
Along with the plaster issue, you knew Margarito was done at about the 2:25 mark of the first round. That’s when Mosley caught him with a right hook to the side that dayum near folded Margarito in half and had him hunched over protecting his body for the next couple of seconds. From that point on, Margarito seemed to react poorly to almost all body shots. Once Mosley start working him up and down, it was a wrap. He went for almost every feint to the body. Those body shots took whatever was left from the Cotto fight out of Marg. Combined with the knowledge that the plaster option was not available, dude just folded.
Everyone also forgets that Mosley was fighting so dirty. And the ref did nothing. He looked like bernard in there with so much holding. I know people gonna say it was a good game plan but fact is holding is illegal in boxing. Thats why the ref breaks it up or else he would let them hug all night. There was no warning or anything. Not like Mosley at all. I mean it worked so **** it. Its the refs fault for not doin his job. Either way Margo did look off that day like he was really worried. They should juss rematch wit less holding and more fighting. I mean u can tell Mosley would feel every punch and then held right away. I think Margo beats him fair wit no cement haha as long as the ref enforces the rules and keeps the huggin to a minimum. But watch the fight and look at Mosley everytime he gets hit.
Margarito made a career calling out, cheating and LOSING to guys half his size yet he was an ATG and legend who would fight for FREE if the contract has "Pride" on the line according to 58 year old guys like Lance_Uppercut and junkyard boxing promoter and founder Bazooka. In this fight the tomato can tried to go in with concrete in his gloves like he did for all his fights but was caught, let me tell you even if he wasn't caught it's not like he had one punch KO power even with concrete in his gloves, yes he's THAT terrible as we always told the cabdrivers of this forum but no one wanted to read. I think Margarito got to full on himself thinking he was the best fighter in the world for beating Cotto. He got cocky and humbled real quick lol
