as a fellow derry boy i'd defenitley be rootin for mcCloskey, but my head says khan would be just too quick for him. If the fight happens though i'll certainly be cheerin for the upset.

Khan would box the ears off him... But realistically why would Khan want to fight McCloskey...? I can't see Showtime or HBO running for the contracts can you...

Once Khan gets past Bradley which he will many views will change...:yep

Good fighter but Khan's another level to him and it would be a one-sided fight that served no-one's interest.

Sorry to buck the trend of Irish backers but I would also pick McCloskey

McCloskey has the pace to compete with Khan IMO and because of his irregular stance he'd be far more difficult to hit than any of the opponents Khan's faced to date. McCloskey also hits up the way and is more than likely to connect with Khan's chin at somepoint.... I'd take an early KO for McCloskey

Unless McCloskey wins a belt he'll never fight Khan to much risk with no reward.. Warren would avoid him at all costs anyway (if he still promotes Khan in the future)

McCloskey isn't/never will be at the same class as Khan. period.

its funny how peoples opinions change so quick

khan was dog shite only 2 fights ago and next of all he beats the worst belt holder in kotelnik and then the worst world title challenger ever imo and now he is in elite class , he still hasnt been hit by a genuine light welter yet and when he dos it will be tiiiiiimmmmmmbbbbeeeerrrrr

McCloskey is a good opponent, but right now i would think Khan is too much for him at this point. And he is still improving every time he fights.

It's funny the way people see Khan now that he has been improved by Freddy.
I remember he was the laughing stock of a lot of posters here and on bbc 606 no so long ago. Boxing has some pretty fickle fans like all sports really. I posted about a month after the prescott fight how both Bernard Dunne and Amir Khan had a lot in common because they both got Ko'd in 1 round, but, at the time I felt they could both learn from it and go on to bigger and better things. I alsoe remember posting about how Khan was like a pig being fattened up for the slaughter because so many of his supporters would laugh at him once he tasted defeat. I was virtually laughed at and mocked and 12 months later they both went on to win world titles.
Anyway to get back to the point of this article its hard to say what would happen. Khan is the younger man with faster hand speed and probably has a reach advantage given that he is slightly taller. That said, McCloskey is very hard to hit and akward to deal with. Khan has a chin issue but Roach has given Khan a strategy that mostly neutralises that weakness. Khan has a protective stance and his guard is well placed. I would say McCloskey would find it difficult to land on Khan also, and it could well turn out to be a dull fight. I imagine it would be 1 on points but in a 2 horse race where neither figther is likely to dominate I certainly would not be betting on it. McCloskey has some defences of his EBU belt but he is no spring chicken so if he can make 1 or 2 successful defenses I expect him to being challenging the likes of Khan, Bradley, Alexander and Malinaggi.

Well since Khan has been trained by Roach how close has he come to being KO'd by ***an, Barrera, Kotelink and Salita!

And another thing, since your saying a McCloskey KO would be great odds, tell me what those odds need to be to qualify as great! I'm a betting man and I'd give you odss of 5/3 would you take those odds?

i think they(warren) need to rush him, allthough he has improved a lot,he still has a dodgy chin(pls, don't anyone say he aint),and when someone just as fast, big or bigger and can take a shot, and give one, khan is gonna struggle, big time,(even after hitting salita,he look shocked he hit him and dropped him)warren knows this,he needs his money back from his investment:good

I just don't see the need to rush him he is clearly improving all the time but is still vunerable. There are so many factors which point to taking their time, he only just turned 23, lost once by KO recently and been dropped a few times, isn't experienced on the world level and beat the weakest champ at the weight so you really do not know how he would do against the best at the weight and considering he is learning all the time why would you put his career at risk when he has another 7/8 years left in his career.

Not being funny but whilst i thnk Khan would win.

McCloskey imo would be and is a better opponent than Salita.
