Amir Khan is more popular than say Hatton was after only a few years professional. Plus yes there are alot of asians who have got behind him because he is only an asian himself but there are thousands of BRITSH whites and blacks who support him to and he even says he hasnt recieved any form of racism first hand so the silly **** is playing the race card for no reason.
Someone please get this dip**** a decent PR Agent and fire his ****ing muppet Asif Vali. This continual **** pisses me off. Khan needs to keep his gob shut and stick to boxing OR if he wants to develop a 'brand', pony out the dosh for advisors/PR rep that can at least guide him to articulate himself without causing controversy. Heck if Jade Goody could do it, Amir can too. FFS.
he's wrong, but he doesn't deserve to be crucified for it. The thing is alot of people hate him or love him jsut because of his race but the truth is that if he was white those people maybe simply wouldn't care from the beginning. So he might not have had the opportunities that he has had at this point.
I thought it was a daft statement to make in the first place, but he's a kid. He still has some growing up to do between the ears. Hopefully that'll happen.
yeah right, Hatton is one of the most annoying deluded individuals in the world yet beer guzzlers flock in their thousands to Las Vegas to watch him. Hatton had more support than Lennox Lewis - and you think it is because he is a nice and popular guy? Khan is honest and works hard. He has kept his feet on the ground and worked for everything he's got. But his PPV sales are terrible (because his opponents are crap) and the general public have never taken to him despite his talent and effort. If I was him, I would probably be sensitive to it too. You have Froch taking a random pop at him and most of the forummers here supporting him for talking trash. If he was a white east end lad and had achieved what Khan has aged 22...he would be an icon on a parallel to Beckham you have to say. Instead he is on the verge of doing a Lewis Hamilton and ****ing off. it is a shame because he has always been a proud Brit, proud of his heritage and proud to respresent Britain (when many asians don't and prefer to stay loyal to Pakistan). It's a shame, but I hope he sticks at it and the public begin to support him. he is a decent and honest bloke and the country should be proud of him.
To be fair the "silly ****" was just naive in allowing himself to be sucked into some half-baked boxing correspondents' need for "a line" for their previews of the Salita fight. If he is asked provocative and irresponsible questions often enough by journos who should exercise a little more moral responsibility, the chances are that Amir will ultimately bite. That doesn't make him racist. Rather more, it means he has not been shrewd enough to see through their ploys. With age comes wisdom.
you think he'd be an icon on on a parallel with Beckham?? He could be if he beats the names he says he wants to take on but as the way things stand, his career isn't that of an icon. That wouldn't change if he was white or black. There's not one fighter in history that everyone likes, thats life. BTW Lewis left in evade tax
I largely agree with most of what you say here...but for **** sake, you will get us shot with that Lewis comment:shock:...he maybe left to avoid tax, which is legal, as opposed to evade tax, which isn't:deal
He does get some racist hatred from bigots but I think his "white=superstar" comments were totally wrong. He does have a habit of saying stupid things but i'm sure the fantastic reception that he got at Newcastle would change his mind!
