Dawson finds himself in a difficult situation. There are no natural fights for him at the moment, and after a desultory 2009 he needs to have a big 2010. He wants: Calzaghe -- retired and unlikely to return Hopkins -- has shown no real interest in Dawson whatsoever He'll take: Green -- called Dawson out and Chad said he'd fight him Pascal -- has called Dawson out and Chad said he'd fight him ???: Cloud -- no real buzz about this Bute -- would seem possible, but no real buzz for it yet I think Green is unlikely because HBO may not be terribly interested in that bout. My guess is HBO would prefer Pascal in Canada -- Dawson's people are saying they will travel to either Canada or Australia, as needed -- but Pascal now has a shoulder injury and may have to push back his next bout. Cloud also would appear to be a decent (not great) opponent, and maybe that's the direction they will go. This fight would be on already if Cloud's people had not stupidly passed up an undercard spot (with a guarantee) on Dawson/Johnson II. What do you guys think?
I've never bothered to watch a Dawson fight live, seen him on youtube though. But, i would be willing to pay money to watch Dawson-Pascal.
That's what I'm hoping for, too. The good news is that Chad's people seem to be aware of their financial situation, so they are willing to travel, which is nice. That bout in Canada would be a big payday for both fighters.
Chad is a beast...at 175 it looks as if he'll have to take on the lesser names...bhop is clearly moving to cw and than hw...rjj is done...cloud is an option if he can get 2 or 3 good wins under his belt in the near future...pascal would be a nice choice in the mean time!!!
Why not Erdei? He still got a belt and only a few fights left.... I think he would fight Dawson for a nice retirement payday... Hey, he fought a cruiserweight in his last fight, why not Dawson?
I think they can all also say: Dawson -- no real buzz about this But I think it's time for him to stop calling others out and takes on his own legacy all all comers. Dawson has been called out by Cloud and Pascal. Or unify against Campillo or Brahmer.
Gary Shaw should be able to squeeze a few million for Chad out of a fight with Pascal at the Centre Bell
Dawson has no charisma or personality and his fights are not that exciting but I would be interested in seeing him fight Pascal or even Cloud.
pascal would be a good fight but if he is injured and out for a while then erdei would be sweet. Problem with that fight is nobody in the usa knows of erderi so I think he should try to get either Bute or maybe even fight a crusier weight until he can get pascal, after that fight cloud (which would give cloud time to build a bigger name in the US market)
Either Tavoris Cloud or Pascal. Both easy victories, and both would get him more international exposure.
Dawson has made some great improvements from the first Johnson fight until now. I think he should fight some younger guys now to get the feel back for that. Build his name up a bit and try to get Hopkins in the ring. That fight REALLY has me interested. The Pascal options seems the most viable right now and if it's in Montreal, I would attend.
