I actually think Toney has enough pop at Heavyweight to hurt Haye and i have a hard time seeing Haye land much on Toney.

lol i'd actually favour Toney, make it happen please.

If the Toney that fought Guinn showed up i'd lay money on him to dominate Haye.

if Toney was half as good or achieved half as much as some folks give him credit for he would be some ****in fighter

In fact what he is ,a good middleweight, a relatively short lived supermiddleweight champ who ate most of his talent but managed to put occasional great performances in along the way.

If he's such a ****in legend how did Montel Griffin beat him twice ?

Holyfiled and Rahman were already shot to **** when Toney beat them and Guinn and Oquendo are the US equivelants of Audley Harrison ( Cant fight , wont fight ! ).

He fought well against Peter who was a slow almost talentless plodder

and will someone please tell me what so ****ing " old School " about turning up horribly out of shape or full of ****ing steroids ??????? I can really see Tony Zale pulling that ****

A guy with talent but no dedication and more mouth than achievement.

:good:good; Those two would definitely end up "Getting it on" before fight night!! David's insults would probably wind up Toney too much for him to control himself! It would be like Herbie Hide-Michael Bent all over again, only this time people would get hurt!! Add a dash of Tarva with a hint of Bernard and season with Mayorga and Iron Mike and hey presto!! you've got Armageddon!

but again please dont think i dont like Toney, I do

its what other people say about him that winds me up

One thing he said tho : Hopikins IS more old school than Toney , He lives the life and is a true warrior. Can you imagine Hopkins smoking a stogie ? No way No How !

Toney beat many top fighters in that “relatively short” time in middleweight and super middle champion.
He also is two time fighter of the year, former cruiserweight champion and has won heavyweight title.
Good fights and I had Toney winning both of them in my score cards. Many of the ring side analyst and commentating crew also felt that Toney won.

Holyfield was ranked #4 by ring when Toney beat him, Hayes biggest heavy weight win Valuev is nowhere close as good victory than that.
Making Rahman quit in three rounds was good performance against recent champ. Definitely more impressive than Hayes Barret performance.
Quinn and Oquendo are solid wins equal if not better than Hayes victory against Barret. Definitely better than Hayes win against that joke of a fighter Bonin.

How many middleweights can take on one of the hardest hitters in heavyweight again?

Antsu you usually talk pretty good sense but any post that has Sam Peter as one of the hardest hitters in Heavyweight I'm struggling brother.

Like I said ( at least twice ) I am a Toney fan but to listen to some of the folks on here you would think he was Sugar Ray Robinson and he aint. He was a good / great Middleweight / Supermiddleweight although for me his reign isnt long enought to be truly called a great .

You can get Guinn and oquendo to **** , nothing negative said about them is ever negative enough , utter wastes of space at least Barret and Bonin came to fight. Guinn and Oquendo spent their entire careers trying to avoid one !

With all due respect you thinking he beat Griffin doesn't really matter , however why isnt Griffin being talked about as some old school legend ? Even if he lost to Toney is super close fights ( as you suggest ) surely he is a ring legend too then ?

Toney over the years has put in some brilliant performances ( and we havent even metioned Jirov yet ) but he threw away too much , spent too much time in terrible shape and took roids to fight .....................John ****IN Ruiz

Old school hero / all time great ... nah

On his best night a great fighter ...yes
