I was always a Eubank rather than Benn fan. Chris was just...startling, in a good way.

I remember one fight in particular, can't remember against who, and the crowd was absolutely rabid with hatred for him. And there goes Chris, strolling about the ring between rounds, doing that glove tapping thing, utterly soaking it all up defiantely.

At the time I was more a Benn fan.

But looking back Eubank was awesome!

  3. Yeah I used to love his arrogance. I think you're referring to one of the Watson fights, the first I think. Ronnie Davies had to keep dragging him to the corner and make him sit down. I think he slapped him a couple of times too.

I watched this the other day

Thompson pretended to be out and hit him with a big punch when eubank waded in, and he tried to do it againd and Eubank didnt bite the 2nd time.

Id actually say that was a bit of good boxing rather than lacking the killer instinct.

From memory I think you could be right but it's been a long time since I've watched it. Will have to get on the old youtube!

  6. That's not how I saw it. It's in the mid to late rounds, Eubank lands with a flurry of punches sending Thompspn back onto the ropes, he's physically stunned and there for the taking, Eubank just stands there and waits for Thompson to do something, Thompson regains his wits and carries on.

He definitely holds back against Collins in one of their fights, Can't remember which round/which fight??!?!?!

I'll have a gander when I get home from work and see if I can give a pinpoint example :good

Look for the ref asking thompson if hes ok, he answers instantly and suddenly stops swaying all over the place

I think he was hurt but not out on his feet at all and was looking for a second sucker punch and eubank didnt go for it

Mind you, Eubank should not have just stopped.

  9. That's the point though isn't it?

I'm going by memory, I haven't got access to it here at work but I'll have another look when I get home.

    Well yeah I guess

But I think it was more due to thinking Thompson was trying to sucker him in again than a lack of killer instinct if you know what I mean?

Regardless I think he did lose a fair bit of killer instinct post watson just not neccessarily in this fight.

  11. Ok mate point taken :good

    Great minds think alike...

I was just thinking about that fight as one that disproves everything Chris says.

I also was a Eubank fan, just loved his fighting style and in particular I remember Roy Jones rating him as the best of the UK era and being very surprised at the Thompson loss.

Eubank was such a great fighter and character for UK boxing, an ambassador for it. We dont have anyone like him now, its a shame.

I like Froch, but very concerned about the volume of shots he has been taking and it will catch up with him.
