I'm just curious, I happen to think they are great fighters and are worthy of respect. Everyone I know hates them, I'm new so if I'm doing anything wrong, please tell me and I'll prevent it from happening again. :D

I guess it's mostly frustration by American fight fans. Look into the boards and nearly everybody who hates them is American. The hw belt belonged to America for a very long time. Now it's hold captive by some non-Americans. They don't like that.
Add to that the poor standard of the division - also it isn't worse than the 80s or 20s imo.
Add to that the rather un-spectacular but very dominating style of the Klitschkos and especially Wlad.
Add to that that they aren't trash talking loudmouthes like they seem to be liked over here but humble and actually nice people - but boring because of that to the eyes of many.
I think the lis could go on and on.

But fact is both are excellent fighters with Wlad even beeing on the brink of becoming an atg despite all the hate.

We have a saying in Germany that fits here I think: Mercy will be given but jealousy has to be earned.

I think that they are respected for the most part on the classic forum, though many are irritated by the unwarantedly high status acorded to them by some.

I will not even bother to speculate why many people on the general forum hate them as it would be a waste of time and effort.

I certainly do n't hate them. They're far from all time greats imo,but since Lennox Lewis' retirement, the Klits have been the best of a moderate lot.

They are effective at what they do. But what they do is not very pleasing on the eye.

Take Wlad for example, his fights consist of jabbing for the first 5-8 rounds in a very defensive stance, using his reach to keep his opponent at a distance. Then once he has plucked up the courage to throw his right hand. He connects and the fight is effectively over. It gets him the victories and the belts but not the fans.

In fairness to them they haven't had good competition to contend with. They have not had the opponents to force them into greatness. They have been the best of a poor bunch but there inability to look spectacular has turned people away from the heavyweight division. The lower divisions have dominated the spotlight since Lennox Lewis retired.

Their fans tend to be neo-nazis, new to boxing and vastly overrate them while disrespecting other champions. Everytime I've warmed to them, and I do like the Klits, their fans put me off as they are generally epic ****s, I am in fact a closet Klit fan. 1 thing that annoys me about Vitali is his technique though, arm punching, low hands and his mouth hanging open is just crap, if he was in against a fast powerful counter puncher or a bob and weave hooker he could get a broken jaw doing that. And neither brother has learnt how to throw or use the uppercut properly, plus they don't offer too much in the way of excitement for the most part. Both are good men, in peak physical condition, eat, train and behave like champions.

    Good post.

Fact is Wlad vs Shavers/Lyle/Young would be a tougher fight then he could get today, and they made up the numbers/were the leading contenders in their era, not the best.

Vitali would be big, tough and awkward in any era.

    Good, effective fighters, yes. In terms of accomplishment, decent. They have the beating of certain 'greats' (or top 20 placed Heavys if you prefer) but let's put it into perspective;

The people that like Wlad-Vitali-Not a massive %

The % of those people that REALLY LIKE THEM AND HYPE THEM is probably quite high.

The % of people that disagree with their high standing with certain people is high; hence what may be misconstrued as hate by some is actually 'popular opinion'

    Lmao..

They are no more exciting than two Jess Willards tackling Johnny Coulan.

Bloody giants with mediocre co-ordination to instill edge-of-seat excitement.

I didn't know they are hated.

I just find them either extremely boring (Wlad) or extremely ugly to watch (Vitali).
