Glad legal issues are over, hopefully it's gonna be a flying career now. Now... I won't have a single negative word nor refer to any other action of Gary Hyde IF he'll do what Arena was about to do: - Keep Rigo's ass in the Wild Card Gym - Have his fights televised in the US - Match him tough and often and - Get him a world title fight in 2010. The kid is ready. No need to hold the potential back. It's already there. So Good Luck to Hyde and Rigondeaux, and let the championship countdown begin NOW!
Last I heard he wanted to keep him in Ireland for his first 5 fights (had he signed Rigo first) so maybe a trip to Ireland?
I have concerns about what a chacal would do in Ireland and I have the impression that the other Cubans are neither doing well ... Acosta showed an under average performance the last time around, they are trying to force him to radically change his style, and to be more static both hands up, European style. He was unnecessarily hit several times. Luis Garcia has been merciless sidelined, since he refused to fight Campillo. Mike Perez was injured and had an OP, nobody knows nothing about him since ages. Is that what Rigondeaux need?
bone rigo wasnt with arena he was with caribe promotions, who where in talks with hbo to make a match up with caballero, apparently hbo execs where going to be watching tonight's fight and decubas was trying to get them to jump onboard, but not anymore lol
no idea maybe they still want to do it no matter who the promoter is, all depends on hyde if hbo is indeed interested since you follow the cubans, i also wanted to let you know something i got a scoop on, lara and gbp had a meeting with hbo before his fight last weekend, and big plans might be coming up maybe a cintron fight on hbo or angulo or even martinez again nothing official but that's what the meeting was about regarding 2010, they told him that he had to be impressive to convince them and apperently he was
BTW, watched Rigo live last night. What a horrible fight. He's lucky that wasn't on national TV. He knocked the opponent down in the first 30 seconds with a 1-2, so the opponent shelled up and went on the run the rest of the fight. Rigo stopped even trying after a round or two, and just reverted to complete amateur form, just trying to throw punches here or there to score points. Let's just put it this way - he has more question marks for me now than he did two days ago.
Ive seen that cat fight before he is a durable little ****er... He has more fights then boxrec says he has (alot of the african fighters fights in africa dont get recorded on boxrec) it was shown in his first fight that because of rigo's style if you dont engage him you can go rounds. I'll be speaking with rigo later on so I'll ask him about last nights fight:deal
