I didn't say you were. And yes it was overrated , pretty much like any other eras.

ATG means a solid fighter surrounded by overrated cans. (for the most part).

Interesting matchups are pretty rare. and when you actually have one you quickly realise what a fighter is really worth. (when tested)

In tyson's case , he couldn't beat Holyfield. Holyfield won that test. Tyson should've been able to beat Buster though.

In tyson's defense , let's not forget that Buster had a pretty big reach (of 83)

lets be honest here, tysons biggest weakness is his brain, if he had the mind of a Ali or ray leonard he would have never been passed his prime so early and his reign over the hw division would have lasted much longer.
Buster should not have been a threat to mike.

Close in skills:patsch:patsch No way Douglas has way better skills and the one that fought Tyson would bust up Klitchko and stop him late.
Vitali does know how to use his strength and size though, but as far as skill level hes not on the same planet as Buster. Only thing here is Busters Chin wasnt the best and Id give Klit a chance at catching him late if hes not totally busted up by then.

Journeyman:patsch WTF are you talking about he was a top10 heavyweight when he fought Mike and everyone else in the top 10 would have been huge underdogs, the only one thought to have a remote chance was Holyfield. He had already fought for the title leading Tony Tucker before gassing out.
Also Greg Page and Pinklon Thomas were already past it by the time Buster entered the rankings. David Jaco was a clubfighter who never even came close to being ranked.
Either your memory sucks, you were still in diapers,or you are just plain talking out of your ass.

That was a few years before he was already ranked coming off wins over Oliver McCall and Hyped up Hot prospect Mike Williams

Oliver McCall was never anything special, just a decent fighter with a world class chin. Was Mike Williams hyped up? I don't remember that being the case.

Maybe that's because Tyson was pretty damn good, no?

You must have not paid attention to my entire post everyone in that division would have been a huge underdog just about anyone else outside of Holyfield would have been considered the Biggest upset of All time.

Yeah Tyson was pretty damn good and Douglas was pretty damn bad, he wasn't a top fighter, he was a tune up FFS.

Yes he was heavily hyped in Fact Ring Magazine had him as prospect of the year around that time,he also was said to have schooled a Prime Tyson in sparring, his fight against Douglas was on HBO and this was supposed to be Williams showcase, and Douglas dropped him repeatly before knocking him out.
Williams was even in Movies around that time playing Morrisons opponent for the title in Rocky5 under the name Dante Cane.

Every ranked fighter back then was thought of as just a mere formality for Mike. Tyson vs Holyfield was the only Heavyweight fight that anyone cared about prior to Douglas pulling the upset.

I'll take your word for it because I don't remember **** all about the guy, after checking boxrec I see he had already lost to Witherspoon by that time and hadn't beaten a decent fighter yet, HBO must've been desperate to find a young fighter to compete with Tyson.

There wasn't much competition for Tyson at that time but Douglas was still one of the last guys people thought could trouble Tyson.
