Does anyone else think Pacquiao should have got International sports personality....

    of the year by the BBC?

    He has just become the first guy to hold world titles in seven different weights.... I mean only about a year and half ago he was fighting Marquez at super feather! what he has done since (this year specifically of course) is nothing short of astounding! He at least deserved a mention. (If they did I missed it.:!:)

    The bloke just hasn't had enough exposure in the UK to win that sort of thing.

    He shouldve been nominated.


    IMO a win over Maywather puts him there.

    How many of his live fights have been shown?

    I've heard the most casual of fight fans talk alot about Pacquiao.... let's not forget the thoasands that turned up on the Hatton press conference.

    But anyway, do you agree he did enough?

    We've had this discussion on here, theres no "deserved" about that award. The public either votes for a certain person or they don't and they do it for whatever reasons they choose. FFS Ryan Giggs won the main award!!


    Most casual boxing fans know Manny, but how does that compare to how many people have heard of Usian Bolt? Its not even close.

    Although I agree with you on the main award, just for the purposes of pedantry, the overseas award is selected by a panel of sports journalists rather than a public vote.

    I have no problem with Bolt winning but as he won it before I thought Pacman should of got it

    I'm only talking about the international award snippy! and yes, soem achivements do outweigh others.... in this case it's Pacquiao's.

    Bolt is a bit more famous but who was the other guy up for that award? I can't even remember his name and certainly ain't heard ANYONE talking about him before.

    i'm sick of people putting so much credence on these awards btw. who gives a ****, especially when its the beeb handing them out.

    The list of winners since the award began.

    Last boxing winner was Evander Holyfield in 1996.

    I don't have a problem with Bolt winning it. Hardly anybody knows who Pacquiao is - never mind what he actually did this year, whereas nearly everybody knows Bolt and what he achieved.

    Plus it's about personality - Bolt really sells himself, Pacquiao is a more reserved kind of character..... plus the fact that he won a WW title without allowing his opponent to weigh in at the WW limit - not sure how they do their research, but that might count for something...... Cotto isn't a name in the UK, who really cares if Pac beat him?

    Just playing devil's advocate.
