Jones meets Vera after Rogerio bows out Antonio Rogerio Nogueira has been forced to withdraw from a scheduled bout against Brandon Vera at UFC 109 on Feb. 6 in Las Vegas. Nogueira aggravated an ankle sprain that would prevent him from preparing for the bout properly, according to sources close to the situation. http://sports.yahoo.com/mma/news;_y...4?slug=ys-mmaweekjj121609&prov=yhoo&type=lgns Wow this fight should be good. Vera has a good striking and jon jones is also a striker. This should be an awesome fight.
Damn.. Not messing around with Jones anymore.. Hope he stays focused, Vera seems like a hot and cold fighter. Dangerous fight for Jones if Vera shows up hot.
Really? How do you see the fight going. do you think vera can outstrike him? I like Vera man, I think he got a raw deal against Couture.
This is an awesome fight! I am a huge fan of both, but I see Jones taking this one. Too explosive and fast for Vera..
I actually didn't see the Couture fight but everyone told me the same thing. I wanna see it. I look at the fight this way, Jon Jones is a VERY good fighter. Good standup, good Greco, but Vera is good at those same things. Infact, Vera is technically a better striker than Jones, and his Muay Thai is excellent for someone that started out a Greco guy. Kinda like BJ's Boxing skills, excellent for someone who's main strength is supposed to be BJJ. Jones seems like a fighter who is taking full advantage of his unorthadox style (which he's supposed to) but eventually is gonna run into someone that can fight him back. What if Jones can't throw Vera so easily? What if Jones gets put on his back? Styles make fights and alot of people are really impressed with Jones performance in the Hamill fight, but Hamill (credit to him) isn't in Brandon's league as far as technical ability. Infact, Hamill is another guy that seems to take advantage of raw strength but when somebody really fights him back (Franklin & Jones) Hamill has no 2nd line of defense. I think Jones is finally gonna have a fight on his hands. Remember when Houston Alexander came up? Scored KO wins over Jardine & Sakara and alot of people were riding Houston. It came time to fight Thiago Silva and he got his ass humbled. I won money on that fight actually. Jones is good. He's explosive, he's a good athlete. Jones can potentially win, it's a fight and anything can happen, but I like Brandon in this one. He's more proven than Jones so anyone that just counts him out is gonna see The Truth:yep
Good points, I'm just kinda riding Jones right now and think he is in a different league then Alexander. Jones has a wrestling background and extremely dangerous strikes. Remember how he beat the **** out of Bonner, again Bonner is c level but still. I hear ya though, I hope Vera finally comes back to what I thought he was after he destroyed Mir.
Yeah I didn't enjoy that Vera vs Mir fight But yeah I want Brandon back to that guy he was. I think a Jones fight is something that can fire him up and bring his A-game. And before I get chewed up, I didn't compare Jones to Alexander as far as ability. Jones is a stud fighter, and Houston is obviously a flash in the pan, and his technical ability is at amateur level. Jones performance over Bonner, (which I thought Bonner would win that fight) was scary as hell. Bonner is a big dude and is battle tested, and Jones tossed him around like a rag doll. I couldn't believe what I was watching.
Jones is so bad ass in the ring and looks like Papa Doc from 8 mile or even Method Man Then he opens his mouth and sounds like a sunday school student and talks about snitching on kids when he was younger :huh Dude is definitely peculiar....but I love watching the guy fight! :yep
