its not an ideal situation I agree, however Id rather see Mitchell kept busy than wait for an available high rank opponent.

My thoughts exactly! And the fact that Limond would be a common opponent would build towards a Mitchell Khan fight. And of course you never know if Willie won it might get him a second bite of the cherry at Khan

Limond would give him lots of problems, lot faster than Prescott and a better boxing brain

The fight on Feb 13th is a keep busy fight before a World title shot in May. Frank Warren was quoted as saying this in the last couple of days. I would imagine it will be a televised card so they will put him in with someone who will make him look good to draw in more fans before a title shot. If Marquez vacates WBO title to move up to Light Welter as expected. Then Mitchel will face Katsidis possibley at Upton Park for the title. Although I feel Upton Park may be a bit optimistic at this stage.

As said above i don't think this is a major fight. It's just Warren trying to capitalize on Mitchells new found fame and making him look good for if or when he fights for the world title.

I feel Warren should be looking to get Mitchell a decent world ranked lightweight so he can develop on the world stage.

We know whoever he fights for the title won't be easy so he should be looking to have a bridge the gap fight so he can used to mixing in higher class. Prescott was a danger man and taught Kevin a lot about himself and mixing at higher level but he needs to work with someone who can test him a bit more in terms of boxing and skills.

Warren is stageing his 'mega event' on 13th Feb and he obviously wants Mitchell on that bill. It is too short time to setup a world title shot yes maybe, but fighting Limmond? Don't see the point in this at all! Keeping Mitchell fresh yes, but he should be fighting someone of world capabilites. Surely there is much better match ups for him out there. This is a Big step backwards in my op:-(

    Agreed...

Limond's a good boxer but he has no power and he's not an athlete like Mitchell is, he isn't as talented. Mitchell has everything Limond has and more, thats how I see it.

Plus this fight is pointless like I said. Why build towards a Khan fight? Khan fought Limond ages ago, its water in the bridge. Khan is a light welter now and Mitchell only just moved to lightweight. He'd be better served aiming for the beltholders in this weight category and getting some good world level build up fights to prepare him.

totally agree with Limond, fighters need to make money and if warren is being tight then this aint going to happen. after bredis prescott, mitchell is flying high and I cant see too many people wanting to fight him.

Dont think Mitchell punches that hard mate, Prescott made him look good, Limond will make him look bad

Thats the thing tho lads, Mitchell will be avoided unless Warren pays top wack for a ranked contender. Nobody is sure who is available so Kev needs to keep busy in the meantime. Limond is a decent opponent if thats the case...Kev will be a world champion in 2010 no doubt as long as he keeps busy.
