i think razor ruddock would have no problem in knocking out peter.....honestly the dokes that fought holy in 89 would also knock out sam peter......he is so overrated:smoke:smoke:smoke
Razor had a suspect chin himself, I dont see him looking good against Peter. But the smash could turn the fight in the other direction.
Ruddock's Smash was a hybrid between a hook and an uppercut. If he were able to land it flush on Peter it would mean alot of trouble. Peter would recover to win in a shootout IMO.
Everybody loves to romanticize the past. We all think the fighters of yesteryear would kick everybody's asses today.
It's a pick 'em fight - whoever lands first probably wins. Both guys showed the ability to get off the canvas and go the distance though. The difference is that Ruddock was decked by a still formidable Mike Tyson and Peter was decked by a 37 year old relative non puncher in Jameel Mccline. The 1990 version of Ruddock beats Peter, but I think Peter could have beaten Ruddock after the Tyson fights because they took a lot out of him.
Let me say this about Peter: I don't take any boxer seriously that doesn't have running as a part of their regular training regiment. During the post fight interview when Peter beat James Toney, Peter said he ran for the first time to get in shape for Toney. WTF! Peter ran for the first time?! This is why Peter looked lethargic the other night. The guy is not being trained properly. I said this two years ago. For a fighter who is a little over six feet, lugging around 250 pounds isn't going to prolong his career. Heavier isn't always better. If Peter ran, and was truly dedicated to his training, he would come in the ring between 220-230 pounds and not 250. That being said, far too many of today's heavyweights don't train properly and are heavier - lugging around far too much body fat than ever before. At least yesterdays heavyweights did a little more to get in shape. Razor Ruddock who was 6'3" generally came in the ring around 230 pounds.
Ruddock, Not only does he have the better handspeed and fluidity but his Power is very discouraging. I think it would be a back and forth match but with Ruddock generally getting the upper hand before causing a stoppage.
