David Tua vs. Jimmy Young

anyways...Young beats Tua by 12rd decision, he was a very fast fighter..he knocked Foreman down in the 12 round (for someone with 11 KO's in his resume that's not bad at all)...

Tua would win some rounds, but during the late fight he boxes smart and uses his fast hands to win a decision :good.

 

A motivated Tua was embarrassed by Byrd, even hurt when Byrd went to the body.

Guess what Young managed against Ali?

He hurt one of the most iron clad bodies in the history of the sport.

 

simply like :
young vs. shavers + tua vs. rahman (bare the after the bell punch , replace it with oquendo or izon or maskaev)
so , more like young vs. shavers really.
probably in 3 fights it is like :
tua vs. young 1 : tua KO1 young
tua vs. young 2 : draw (maybe even a close decision for young like : 7-5 / 116-113)
tua vs. young 3 : you choose. everything but a big win for young - it ranges from a close unanimous decision for young to a KO2 for tua.
so who got the better of the affair ? for me it is clear.

 

First of all, Young was NOT the greatest fighter of the 70's, and frankly I think there are several of Tyson's opponents who might have troubled or even beaten Tua. Anyway, I'm going with Young by a decision. Too elusive and too hard to KO. Tua's only chance is a stoppage as I don't think he can gain much ground on the cards, but it isn't likely.

 

Good analogy. Byrd was to some extent a modern day incarnation of Jimmy Young, with a lot of skill and speed; not a lot of power, but both had the combination of accuracy, quickness and technique that could hurt an opponent when they least expected it (ie. when they were in the ring with Young or Byrd!).

Also, Tua could put up a good workrate... If he was landing on his opponent! Shut Tua down offensively and you've got him. Lewis did it; Byrd did it; even Rahman did it twice and only lost the first time because of poor refereeing.

Young by comfortable UD. I doubt Tua even hurts him at all. Too cute, too slick, too tricky.

Jimmy Young,the BEST fighter of the seventies ?? Of that decade,I would say he was the sixth best fighter. He would probably beat Tua on points. Would be a tough one,though.

 

Byrd all over again, Tua is never able to amount a sufficient offense in this one and is outboxed into oblivion by Jimmy Young.

tua wins , it will be a close decision if young gets lucky , but a stoppage is the more likely option.
