An Oscar of 135 vs. PBF of 135 would have been a very great boxing match. The PBF that beat Oscar isnt as quick and agressive as the 135 version.
I used to think that, but I rewatched it, and I didn't see them telling him to stay away and just give the round away. Clancy told him "box, box, box" and Alcazar says "make sure you win the round", after either the 9th or 10th, not sure which one (it's been taken off of youtube).
I like the Vargas one the best, then the Ruelas one. The left hooks to the body against Coley were nice too.
Oscar said he has himself to blame, his corner was just telling him to box, it was oscars whos legs were shaking due to how tired he was, at least the way it is right now people can say 'ay, oscar should have won' if he hadnt of ran like that and stayed with his legs sapped in strength like that theres no telling if tito would have been able to put things together or not, tito usually owns the championship rounds.
I hate to say this but i think his best left hook was against Vargas, vargas had just won the 9th round, was on his way to winning the 10th i believe, and first oscar shoe shines him, then blasts him, then.... Vargas is still groggy to start the 11th, the announcers start wondering why Oscar hasnt pressed the issue, then BAM... "Down goes Vargas!!!" horrible.... horrible..... horrible horrible horrible horrible horrible night
A lot of the times he jumped into it, both feet came off the ground, all that weight straight into an opponent's chin. But it happened at lightning speed.
The thing I love about the Mayorga hook in round one was how loud it was. It sounded like someone shot a cap gun.
Oscar did a lot of running for a guy with tired legs. lol I don't know about that theory. Oscar usually owns championships rounds also. And one thing a lot of people didn't realize was that even in Oscars running, he was still outlanding Tito in a couple of those rounds.
That Tito robbery really messed up Oscars momentum. That's why he tried to go balls out and trade rather than box Mosley -- because of all the criticism he took for the Tito fight. I've said it before, if Oscar had of went toe-to-toe with Trinidad like he did Mosley he would've knocked him out. And if Oscar had of used the strategy he used against Tito versus Mosley he would have boxed his way to a UD. Case in point the 2nd Shane fight. Those were Oscar's pinnacle fights and had he of executed the right strategies for each guy, he'd have sealed a great legacy rather than the semi tarnished one he's been left with.
Agreed on all points. I've thought about those scenerios before. He need to fight Shane of the Jab and from the outside instead, as it was later proven that it's the way to beat shane.
