U SEEN WHAT HAPPENED WITH TONY AND SHANE...TONY WILL ALWAYS LOSE TO A SLICK BOXER WITH GOOD MOVEMENT THAT HAS ALOT OF HANDSPEED... IT WASN'T SHANES POWER BUT HIS SPEED THAT TONY COULDN'T GET AROUND...FLOYD TAKES A UD AND IF U DISAGREE THAN U MIGHT WANNA CHECK OUT TONY-MOSLEY..ITS A GOOD SOURCE TO BACK UP WHAT I JUST SAID:bbb
Shane's power was stopped Margarito. Floyd doesn't have that power, nor would/does he throw like Shane.
But he is fast enough to stay out of the way of Tony's punches...Tony has horrible footwork and Floyd would be able to punch at will..NOT TO MENTION THE HANDSPEED ADVANTAGE WOULD BE HUGE FOR FLOYD...IT WAS THE SPEED THAT GOT TO TONY IN HIS FIGHT WITH SHANE.... A GUY LIKE TONY WHO BLOCKS PUNCHES WITH HIS FACE INSTEAD OF HIS GLOVES AND CROSSES HIS FEET IN A FIGHT IS NOT GONNA BEAT A FIGHTER AS SKILLED AS FLOYD..HE HAS A PUNCHERS CHANCE AND THAT IS ALL!
The fact that you see this as so one sided keeps you from seeing it clearly. Floyd doesn't have the pop to keep Margarito off him, nor the punch output to keep his offense dictating the fight. We've seen Floyd fights at his best when confortable. Margarito would stay too close to allow him to get comfortable. And say what you want about margarito's foot work, but Floyd isn't the mover he used to be. And please...WTF is it with you and all caps? Seriously? WTF?
A lot of Floyd boys like to gloat that Floyd likes to train even in the wee hours of the morning. Yes, it is true the he trains in the wee hours of the morning. But did you even check what he is doing in day time? Yes, he is sleeping. Floyd is a nocturnal animal and hence he is awake on night times and sleeping on day times. How do you expect him to train in day time then? So stop praising him for training in wee hours of the morning because he is not training in day times.
Floyd moves more now than he did before thust the reason people don't like his style..It's true that it is not "fan friendly." I honestly believe this fight would be an easy UD for Floyd...Tony has almost 0 speed and on top of that his techincal skills are crap in comparison with Floyd... You can state that Floyd ducked and dodged all u want but u can't deny his skills...another thing as far as "pop" goes...Floyd would hit Tony with punches Tony didn't see coming...Cotto is slow in comparison with Floyd and Cotto was outboxing Tony as well... I can easily see Floyd boxing his way to a UD...sorry but a man who crosses his feet and has horrible footwork along with the fact that he doesn't move his head, nor "catch" or "slip" punches leads me to believe that Floyd has an easy night....I mean Tony took an L with Santos and though Floyd doesn't have the size that Santo has but his skills are levels above his...
Dude....Santos was a SprMW when he entered the ring w/ Margarito. You cannot just take what someone else did and say Floyd would do that too. And I am sure Floyd would hit Tony with punches he didn't see. MArgarito would be able to take then while returning many of his own. I know Floyd's D is great, but he cannot dodge everything. And the more the had tho throw to keeo Margarito off, the less time he has for defense.
I know Santos was a very big LMW..HUGE LMW....But his skills are not in comparison with Floyds...A man who blocks punches with his jaw is not gonna beat a fighter on Floyd's level nor would I favor him over Pac, Mosley, or Andre... Slick fighters with very fast handspeed and good movement are tony's worst nightmear...styles make fights and Tony would be at a huge disadvantage....He can't mess with speed...matter of fact watch a fight with tony and watch his feet..he crosses them comes in off balance alot...I know he's a tough guy but he is still human...Floyd would box circles around him...All this was cleared up after Shane exposed Tony for the fraud that he is/// the handwrap incident shadowed the victory and "the blue print on how to beat tony"
Ok, Good post. But where doI start? The man is gifted. Right? So why haven't we seen it? At this point we have way too many gifted fighters to challenge this man. He has beaten ZERO great great fighters even halfway in their prime. People gotta face the facts for all his potential he's came up short.
if all fights were rated that way, than ALL skilled fighters would be champions, but that is not the case. at first, i did think the same way, i was also sure cotto would beat margo, but it didn't happen, being that cotto was world's more skillful. sandy saddler beat willie pep. castillo robbed and beat floyd that first time. alvarez got a questionable draw vs ricardo lopez. lloyd honeyghan over donal curry. tyson over spinks. in another words, will over skill. and margo had alot of will, plaster or no plaster, the guy took some hellacious shots from cintron and cotto that would of flattened many other men. he also took some clean, nasty shots from mosley before shane took care of business and finished him. yea, i agree, there's a good chance floyd would of outboxed him and run most of the fight, but i don't believe margo was beaten by speed that night vs shane. it was clearly shanes power that stopped margo in his tracks. and floyd against the ropes or potshotting in the center of the ring wouldn't work because the guy doesn't try and box with you, like marquez was trying to do with floyd, he just keeps going straight at you, so one of 2 things happen: 1. Floyd punches himself out from hitting Margo with too many clean shots and barely stuns Margo, and like many before him Floyd starts feeling the mental effect that he can't hurt Margo and starts getting fatigued by the pressure. or 2. he just backpedals the entire 12 rounds and does a whitaker on margo. i think Floyd has the capacity to become an even greater fighter than he think he is, but he won't take any risks. he fought smart vs. marquez, but could of finished the show with a ko. he did dominate him, which manny never could, but he did it with marquez out of his best fighting weight. it's like asking floyd to go up to 160 and fight abraham or andre ward. jmm isn't even a lightweight, the guy is a natural featherweight.
I have been watching the sport for alot of years and I know that "it doesn't always work that way" as you put it.... your not going to convince me that Floyd doesn't beat A MAN THAT BLOCKS WITH HIS CHIN...HIS BOXING SKILLS ARE HORRIBLE...Floyd is levels above Tony in terms of skill and in comparing the Cotto fight I don't believe there is nothing the same..Floyd would be throwing 1 punch at a time...Tony would continuously brush em off but I GUARANTEE BY THE LATER ROUNDS IT WOULD HAVE SET IN THAT HE IS GETTING HIT TO MUCH AND HE WOULDN'T WANNA BE HIT ANYMORE...AT THAT POINT HE PROBABLY WOULDN'T HAVE THE CHOICE CUZ FLOYD WOULD BE MOVING AND SHOWING HIM ANGLES..**** TONY WOULD BE CLUELESS AS TO WHAT TO DO IF A GUY AS QUICK AS FLOYD SHOWED HIM AN ANGLE...MARGARITO WOULD HAVE HIS FEET IN KNOTS TRYING TO TURN ON FLOYD...GO TO A FEW BOXING FIGHTS AND TALK TO A FEW TRAINERS..THEY'LL TELL U WHY THE TECHNICAL SKILLS AT THIS HIGH OF A LEVEL ARE WAY UNEVEN WITH FLOYD AND TONY AND WHY IT WOULD BE A STYLISTIC NIGHTMEAR FOR TONY
