Im often amazed with how Hopkins gets so much praise and Calzaghe so much negative press. People seem very patriotic to Hopkins.
If you look at Hopkins record theres not alot in it, here goes
    Hopkins
    - Loses his debut
    - Loses his 1st world title attempt to Jones Jnr
    - Gets put down twice in his 2nd world title attempt against Mercado, and only gets a draw to a guy whos already got 2 loses on his record.
    - 3rd world title try, he wins by KO against Mercado, the start of a long succesful title run.
    - Beats an undefeated G Johnson, good result but Johnson lost his next 2 fights, and has been beat by Sheika, Gonzalez, Harmon & Branco etc, but did go on to become a LHW champ
-Beat J D Jackson who challenged unsuccessfully for a SMW title in his next bout
-Beats S Vanderpool who went on to unsuccessfully challenge for a SMW title against J Lacy
-Beats rival champ K Holmes in good unification win, but who was not a top world champ and had earlier defeats including to H Cherifi
    - Hopkins MW signatute win against undefeated F Trinidad who had spent the majority of his career 2 divisions lower than MW and 4 divisions lower than the division Hopkins debuted at
    - Beats former world champ Joppy, who had lost to Trinidad
    - His next signature win against De La Hoya, a great fighter whos career started at SFW, 6 divisions lower than where Hopkins career started
    - Beats Eastman a former European champ who had lost to Joppy
    - Loses to Taylor
    - Loses to Taylor again
    - Moves up to LHW where his career started, to beat Tarver after backing out of fights with Jones and Calzaghe. Claiming the Ring LHW title
-Defends title against Wright (a good fighter) who spent most of his career at LMW
    - Loses to SMW champ Calzaghe who outworked him
    - Beats MW champ Pavlik for an impressive win against a fighter coming up 2 divisions

    Calzaghe
-Beats former 2 weight champ Eubank whos last fight was only 6 months earlier and who had only lost to S Collins
-Beats former champ Reid, (a recent loser to Malinga) who would go on to challenge twice more for world titles against Ottke and Lacy#
-Beat Thornberry, not a great fighter but good enough to contest again unsuccessfully for a world title
    - Beat D Starie (see above)
-Beat Sheika (see above) who beat G Johnson
    - Beat former champ Woodhall
    - Beat undefeated Veit
    -Beat Brewer former champ
    -Beat Mitchell former champ
-Beat Mkertychan (forgive me if spelt wrong) who went on to win European title
    - Beat undefeated rival champ Lacy
    Beat Bika
Beat undefeated rival champ Kessler who went on to win WBA SMW title after his loss to Calzaghe
    Beat ring LHW champ Hopkins
    Beat Jones Jnr

Now if Calzaghe had beat a smaller De La Hoya, smaller undefeated Trinidad, smaller undefeated Pavlik & smaller Wright, or Allen, Holmes, Echoles etc would he be a great?
And If Hopkins beat an undefeated Lacy, undefeated Kessler, Eubank, Reid, Bika, Woodhall, Mitchell, Brewer, Sheika, & if he had of beaten Calzaghe and then got revenge over Jones would you call him a legend then?
    Please answer honestly to both

This has never ever been done before and has the potential to be an interesting, informative and non-repetative discussion between people of all viewpoints.

So you're trying to say Calzaghe should get as much respect as Hopkins?!

By the way Eubank wasn't a two weight world champ.

Your right, Winky is a good fighter but another smaller fighter that Hopkins beat. Wright had spent most of his career at LMW but was fighting at MW before he challenged Hopkins 2 more weight divisions higher than he was fighting at that time

Do not compare Bhops resume to Calzaghe's. I like Joe, but Hopkins resume absolutely shits all over him.

In the eyes of many...b-hop won the bout with clazaghe, after all...he knocked joe down and bloodied his nose. And when asked for a rematch what did calzaghe do??

Not saying either, I was asking a question, but being patriotism gets in the way, and you havent answered.
Eubank was a 2 weight champ WBO MW & WBO SMW

Shits all over him? If Joe fought Hopkins' resume, you think he'd clearly do worse than 50-5-1?

In the eyes of many yes but not most. So Hopkins didnt get the rematch, but this is not the question, which no one has given an answer to
