Look, i'm a Calzaghe fan, but to even consider his resume better than Hopkins? :huh His best win was against Kessler, who just got smashed and outboxed to bits by an unknown in Ward. Jeff Lacy hasn't done anything, Jones was a shadow of his former self, and Hopkins was a very, very close decision (which I had Joe winning).

Hopkins win's consist of an unbeaten Felix Trinidad, Joppy, De La Hoya, Tarver, Wright, Unbeaten Pavlik, unbeaten Johnson, etc. His only real decisive loss (apart from debut) is Jones, when he was green. Taylor x2 and Calzaghe were all real close fights, could have gone either way.

Besides maybe a prime Jones who we know used performance enhancing drugs, who do you think Calzaghe would have lost to?

The love given to Hopkins and the hate given to Calzaghe......

Is a fkn disgrace, its dumbasses that cant stand the fact they never got to see Calzaghe get beat, thats all.

Hopkins is overrated big time here on ESB into the bargain.

Its who u dont mention that is telling. Tocker Pudwell, 'Quickfire' Will Mcintyre, Peter Manfredo, Evans Ashira, Mario Veit x 2 after a 1st round win first time round. Fighting a prime Jones and Hopkins gets respect. Fighting them at the end of their careers (even tho he lost to Hopkins in my book) does not.

Yeah, it does **** all over him.

Joe was fighting Will McIntyre while Hopkins was fighting Felix Trinidad.

Maybe if he actually left Warren and started fighting the best we'd really know how good Calzaghe was, but he didn't, so that leaves his resume looking like ****.

You make good points, Ive always said there aint a lot between Hop & Cal & that H2H Cal beats him at any stage, always close tho... the bias towards certain fighters is a joke, nothing more, nothing less.

Except for Pavlik who hasnt fought anyone of note since Hopkins all the fighters you mentioned that Hopkins fought also got beat. Like when Hopkins beat Johnson he beat an undefeated fighter as Calzaghe did when he beat Kessler who hasnt lost to some of the lower level fighters Johnson has lost to. Trinidad, De La Hoya, Wright & pavlik are smaller fighters from lower divisions, do think Joppy or Holmes were better champs than say Reid, Mitchell, Woodhall, Brewer & Taylor has been really smashed to bits of late and hes got 2 wins over Hopkins

A prime Hopkins- alots made of his age but he was LHW Ring champ, who pulled out of fighting Calzaghe years before. Calzaghe has alot of nobodies on his record so does Hopkins but please answer the thread question truthfully

Excellent post Bailey, thanks for the effort

I think Hopkins is very overrated by many, especially his resume.

His entire middleweight run was very unimpressive to say the least in a horrible era devoid of any talent.

His post MW run has been mostly smoke & mirrors. I don't consider his Tarver or Winky wins impressive. I rate his win over Pavlik as being his best win post MW but taking into account that Pavlik was moving up, had Bronchitis & an elbow injury it again gets made into more than it was.

He's certainly a hall of famer and a very good fighter but it drives me nuts when people are like "B-Hop is an ATG MW, top 5 ever"

I made a thread in the classic section that didn't get alot of responce but i posed the question "What if Hopkins fought from 1986-1995 vs the talent riddled 160-68 Lb'ers of that era. He wouldn't even have been top dog had he come along 7 or 8 years earlier.

My opinion and i'm sure that alot of folks on here will just insult me but i believe it to be true. Very good fighter but quite overrated by most.

So I suppose Barrera is only a 2 weight world champ then since he was only ever the WBO SBW champion, thats good news, Morales will be thrilled.

    :patsch

Calzaghe was 9-0 against current, former, and future champs. Hopkins has a few more on his win list, but has 4 losses to go along with them. I wasn't aware that Robert Allen and Echols were essentially the difference between a **** resume and a fantastic one.

Don't ignore my original question. Does Calzaghe do worse fighting Hopkins resume than Hopkins did, and if he does, who're the 6 guys that beat him?
