As far as I know that fight is still on. As the report stated: "it's unclear whether he has abandoned his boxing career" But Briggs will be a force to be reckoned with either way.
He can't even breath, & he's gonna try MMA. :-( I heard Herschel Walker is having his MMA debut also. That guy is a phenominal athlete, 2,000 push ups a day kinda guy. It will be interesting to see what he can do.
This has been a trend. Even an old fat Briggs could probably be champion in that MMA. He's got a punchers chance vs glass jaws. Mercer was able to beat that UFC champion in 10 seconds.
Briggs is way overmuscled and with poor stamina. However, he is one of the few boxers to use his footwork to be wary of kicks thus allowing him to get the ko. Grappling is a whole other ball game and I'm not sure if he knows any.
Did you see his fight in China when he got kicked and said WTF! Hilarious. He still won that fight though.
Briggs has alot of power. If Mercer could slip in that kayo on Sylvia, Briggs in itty bitty 4 ounce gloves would cause alot of damage. BTW, didnt Briggs have a bout or two in K-1 and didnt do too bad?
He fought Tom Erikson and put him down hard in the first round. That is the fight I was alluding to when I said he actually used his footwork to go in and out to avoid kicks. Briggs could do well but unfortunately, like every other boxer, it's cos they are pretty much finished in boxing that they are going into MMA. The only boxer who has ever caught my imagination is Jeremy Williams. I REALLY wanted to see how far he could go.
